I can see us being behind at half time and then drawing if we do that. 4-4-2 for me. if we play 4-4-2 how do we fit colkett lines and boateng in, though? Not expecting Colkett to start on Sat given he only arrived here the other day, Boateng has been training over a week now I think so expecting him and Lines in the middle.

Looking forward to this one. Will be leaving Stafford early.Would like to see Easter start as he has that bit of class.Matt Lund didn't feature for them last time out(they lost to a very late goal at Oxford).Need to exorcise the Swindon performance with an emphatic victory-please.Hope we can impress the new guys with a big crowd as they won't be too impressed with the Mem.Surely any league ground is a step up from playing reserve team football in front of one man and his dog for Chelsea Acadamy U21's? Clarke-Salter and Colkett played for Chelsea u21s in front of over 9,000 at Old Trafford in April. Hardly one man and his dog.

Most Academy games highlights shown on YouTube seemed to be sparsely attended.

What would your XI be? I'd go for: __________Roos ___Clarke_Lockyer_Hartley Leadbitter__________Brown ___Lines_Boateng_Colkett _____Taylor____Harrison Toss-up between Leadbitter and Roberts starting for me, though. Would be more than happy with this line up. Although I'd be tempted to give Taylor and James a run out together as Taylor and Harrison often seem to be on different wavelengths. Don't like 5 defenders in home games - play players who can take the game to the opposition and put them on the back foot. We should have enough in the squad to do this and keep the ball more often than not.

------------------------------------Roooooooooos--–--------------------------------- J.Clarke ---------- Lockyer ----------------- Hartley --------------- Brown ------------------------------- Boateng ------------------------------- ---------------------- Lines ------------------------------- Colkett --------------------- -------------------------------------- Easter ----------------------------------------- ------------ Bodin ----------------------------- Taylor ----------------
The good thing about Saturday is Rochdale will have no idea of who plays and what system we will choose to employ.Get at them from the start as they must be low on confidence.

I can't believe any fan would suggest starting with 5-3-2 at home to lowly Rochdale! Roos Leads Lockyer Hartley Brown BB Boateng Lines Montano Harrison Taylor Then looks to bring on Colkiett if we've not winning at half time! Without seeing him play i've no idea if Roberts is a better attacking RB than leads. its 3-5-2 though, every time we play it the wing backs are well up the pitch, bristol city played the system when they easily won this league and scored lots of goals. its not my favourite formation but its not defensive.

"Every time we play it our full backs are well up the pitch "??!!! Not true I'm afraid. Sometimes it works away from home but our best runs in our last two seasons have been when we've scrapped it and gone 4-4-2 and attacked teams regardless of who they are or where they are. I think we're strong enough to play 4-4-2 at home every game. We won 13 games on the Trott at home playing 4-4-2 then switched to 3-5-2 and got beat.

It's worth trying now we've got our 3 new signings because it might work better, and hopefully we won't be defending on the edge of our 6 yard box like we did at Swindon. I'd rather we waited for our next away game though. I really think we can win these next two home games by playing on the front foot and really attacking them.

You are right, if no one on here has any idea about what sort of team we will be playing, or how it is set up, then how the hell are Rochdale going to have a clue.
I do like the look of this set-up though. I suspect that we won't see it tomorrow (because I think it needs practice and confidence to put into action - and we haven't had the time to get that yet with the new personnel) but I do hope it is something we can evolve into over the coming weeks.

Can anyone tell me what our win ratio or pts per game playing 4-4-2 is compared to 3-5-2 ? From last season our record is extremely similar when we start with 3-5-2 compared to 4-4-2. 1.83 to 1.86 gaschat.co.uk/post/211925I think we'll play 3-5-2 to get Boateng, Lines and Colkett into the midfield together and our wingers haven't performed well so far this season.

That's true, but Moore hasn't played because of injury and Bodin has had fitness issues. You can also say that our full backs have been slow out of the blocks this season.

Thing is what better way to get Bodin and montano up and running and in form than putting them in an attacking side at home to one of the bottom sides? Neither of them have done much this season because neither of them have played much.

Roos J Clarke Hartley Lockyer Brown Boteng Lines Colkett Easter (Diamond) Taylor Harrison If we did opt for 4-4-2 this is how I'd like to see us line up. I'm still in the minority willing to persevere with 3-5-2 though. For the moment.

Roos J Clarke Hartley Lockyer Brown Boteng Lines Colkett Easter (Diamond) Taylor Harrison Why would anybody want to see J Clarke at RB at home against Rochdale when, we've got two attacking RB/RWB in Leads & Roberts? JC's a good CB/defensive RB but surely not what we want today?

Roos J Clarke Hartley Lockyer Brown Boteng Lines Colkett Easter (Diamond) Taylor Harrison I still have nightmares from the Twerton days and Malcolm Allisons 'diamond'! God did we ship some goals and get the run around.

Saying that, I think Leadbitter plays better in that role than the wing back role. He just doesn't look comfortable as wingback. He is still learning but I feel, from watching him, that he isn't comfortable there within himself.
