Because they've committed to the entire season and provided guaranteed income for the club. Paying on the day is all good for those that choose that do it, but by definition it doesn't share the same level of commitment. Ofcourse they're just as commited, just pays for it differently. I'm going to every home game this season, that makes me(and people like me) just as commited as a season ticket holder, and we hand over quite a bit more money too. If you're going to every home game, why wouldn't you get a season ticket? 🤔

It makes you a regular attender and someone who provides the club with regular income for which I take my hat off to you. However from a business perspective, season ticket holders are obviously more committed than those who pay on the day. This isn't saying they are bigger and better fans of the club, it means they sign up to the entire season and provide guaranteed income. I suspect you bought your season ticket because it is cheaper than paying for each game and you can afford to stump up the cost up front - this doesn't mean you are more committed. And even after the £5 charge you are still better off than the pay on the day fan.
I personally think its a bit unreasonable to expect the club to give you a free replacement ticket just because you were daft enough to leave your season ticket at home!
That's correct and I'm fortunate enough to be able to do that. Like I said, this isn't a case of saying supporters who get season tickets are bigger and better than those who don't. I'm saying that from a business point of view (and Bristol Rovers operate as a business), season ticket holders are the most committed as they provide guaranteed income regardless of whether that person attends games. This allows the clubs to construct budgets and subsequently create a wage bill with a certain confidence level. Paying on the day does not commit anyone to purchase a ticket for future games. Think I'm right in thinking that you can purchase a season ticket through numerous instalments which might make it cheaper for those who attend all games and pay on the day?

I personally am glad it will only cost me another fiver if I forget my season ticket - the club would be fully justified in charging me full price for another ticket
On your point about bigger and better fans - I've got no time for that nonsense and it really irritates me when this point is raised in any context.

I'm curious as to why you'd choose to do that as surely that risks missing out if a game is a sell out and also doesn't give you priority for other tickets.

I actually paid full whack once after forgetting mine as I didn't realise there was any system in place for this.

Problem is if we all did this the club could never work out the playing budget to give DC as attendences could range anywhere from 4,000 to 10,000, so the club would have to err on the side of caution. This season 5,000+ s/t holders have committed to going every game, but if we have a Buckle like season you may give up attending come the turn of the year. As such non s/t ticket holders are benefiting from watching players financed by s/t's, who've committed their money to buy a s/t for a full season.

I've got a ST, but those FlexiTickets seem a good deal. Save a further £2 on Early Bird costs. From £70 for 5 games and £140 for 10.

Especially as you can pay by 10 monthly instalments. Surely one monthly instalment would only be marginally higher than a price of a match day ticket?

As a season ticket holder, I've already missed two games this season (as I knew I would). Can I pitch up at the Mem to claim a full price ticket back less £10? If so, it seems a bit of a good deal to me.

Blimey mate, you're spreadying the cost but you're paying almost £200 over the odds. You'd be better off paying for a season ticket on a credit card charging you 50% interest!

I paid full price for years.
I got the ST deal early doors.
I pay something pathetic like 10 quid a game now.
I feel slightly guilty. I am no more or less of a fan.
All that happened is a/ it's getting busy these days and good to be a ST holder, no prob for Chelsea game and b/ I had the funds upfront to pay.
I pay the club less but more of a fan? Or am I a dedicated repeat customer?

This happened to me for the first game. I thought it was great customer support to pay £18 and then get a refund. As it turned out they said they only charge the full £18 after the next game, so only charged me a fiver.
Try turning up to any other event saying "I left my ticket behind", see what the answer is!
Rovers are treating fans with fairness. Shock! Horror!
