What do people think of the standard of league one so far? I personally think that you can tell it is a league above but the league is a lot more compact. There isn't as much between the better and worse teams in the league

There isn't as much between the better and worse teams in the league Yeah even Rochdale had something about them and they were bottom still without a win after 6. Bolton were solid but didn't look a class above anything else just more awkward than anyone else to play against. I think we might see the top 6 change about quite a lot during the season a good run in could see anyone in the top half in February win promotion come May.

I think there are very few poor teams in L1 and that could be the main difference. Every game, home and away will be much more of a test and there will be no "weeks off" playing a team of whipping boys.

If they get a chance they will tuck it away. Hence we need to shut up shop a bit better as our goals conceded is my only real concern.

Obviously a better standard as it's a league above!

For me I think the players have more technical ability. they kill the ball instantly rather than let it bounce off their knees. Also they have more awareness of what is happening around them, that is the difference at the moment. Having said that I think players have a bit more time on the ball than in Div2 or the Conference. I think all the teams we have seen at the Mem have passed the ball well. Something we need to improve upon

This league has the biggest turnover of teams out of any of them. 7 teams will be 'passing through' this season, that's nearly a third. That means more teams have something to play for.

A good sign is that we are leaking goals and are still 9th one point off play offs.
You could argue that this wont continue if we keep shipping goals, but on the other hand if we sort that out we will be a force.
As for L1 teams in general, Scunthorpe looked good, Bolton were fairly decent and have got some good loan signings, but other than that from reading reports and watching extended highlights of other clubs as I do, it's not a massive step up really.

There's a definite step up, no different from previous seasons.
Never mind the standard, I'm still not out the habit of clicking on 'league 2' on websites....someone tell me it gets better

Never mind the standard, I'm still not out the habit of clicking on 'league 2' on websites....someone tell me it gets better It definitely gets better with time. I am proud to say that last weekend I finally trained my web history to recognise BBC SPORT/FOOTBALL/LEAGUE 1 and it no longer defaults to LEAGUE 2. That is tons better than last season when it took until Christmas to stop defaulting to the VANARAMA CONFERENCE.
AND for what its worth, I think that the step up from L2 to L1 has been much greater than the step up from the Conference to L2.

As we should expect there is a step up, players are more comfortable on the ball, formations are more fluid and finishing is more clinical but on the other side it is not as physical as league 2. As much as there is a gap between league 2 and league 1 I believe the gap between league 1 and the championship will be larger again the gap between the championship and the Premier League enormous so we must keep learning, evolving and adding/growing more technical talent to the squad.

ive been impressed with the standard of league 1 but also at the way our team have grown into it with the help of the new boys. its bloody brilliant to be in this division so soon after the relegation to the conference.
