Who will he replace or will he be part of a back 3..... Hopefully he'll have to earn his place in a back four.

I think when we play a back 3 we'll see
__________Roos Lockyer___Hartley___JCS
Better for Hartley as his lack of mobility won't be as exposed in the centre of the three.

I agree, although I feel we could have done better than Hartley, Plymouth fans said he is better in a 3 rather than a pair.

Hartley has looked pretty solid defensively so far, a step up from Parkes. But I think his passing to the midfield has been poor, especially when we have Lines & Sinclair who look to receive the ball from the back four.

Quite a nice problem to have.
Pool 2 or 3 from:
Locks - our boy wonder, reads game well and very assured for his age. Could go far in the game. Hartley - streetwise, solid and with a knack for a goal. James Clarke - versatile, deceptively mobile and seemingly much improved this year. McChrystal - elder statesman - yet to be seen but cracking record with us last year. Excellent man-marker of a big centre forward. Clarke-Salter - rave reviews at top youth level.

I hope we don't change formation just to include him in the side but it could also be a catch 22 and he could join Connor Roberts in the stands. Whilst it is good to have competition it is a bit ridiculous the number of players we have who can't get a game of football. Is this really what the FA were looking for with their ridiculous loan rules. It now means lots of footballers with nothing to do or perhaps the FA want to keep them fresh for their England call ups!!!

I would add that McChrystal has a beneficial affect on Lockyers game too. He and Tom seem to have a great understanding - the older man helps the younger and both benefit. I would like to see McChrystal get a game soon (probably EFL Trophy next week?) to keep him match prepared should we need him for a longer run through suspension or injury.

c-Salter made an appearance for chelsea as sub last years and another outing on the bench. if he is on the bench on tuesday, we could have a subs bench of - premier sub, premier player, future premier player!!! strongest bench ever for sure.

Interesting conumdrum for the manager, who will he select in the middle of the backfour for the tinpot trophy. Also due to the change in stance by the Football League regarding under 21 teams & the scottish contingent, are we still boycotting those games?

Isn't the EFL just falling into line with the Premiership (& the rest of Europe?) anyway I'm not sure I was in favour of how the old loan system worked where teams like Yeovil built their promotion on the back of loads of cheap loan deals, the new system could actually help us. Plus players like Roberts can still turn out for their clubs Academy teams. Back to the OP it'll be intresting to see where JCS fits into the defence and where this leaves JC & MM, I ownder if one of those will look to move to a National side to get some game time?

McChrystal and JCS in a back four, perhaps those two plus Tom or James Clarke if a back 5. Keeps players as match fit as possible with such a large squad.

Hold on a minute, doesn't DCS have to 'earn his place' first??
I thought loan players had to have at least 5 sub appearances of 10 minutes or less before they are deemed worthy?

Hartley played against Bradford on the Saturday and DC left him on the bench for the Tuesday game at Swindle.
Slight knock? 2 games in 4 days too much? Will he rest him tomorrow night?

Hasn't LB played virtually every match since we were relegated, I'd be surprised if DC was planning on replacing him with a lad with virtually no league experience.
