Hold on a minute, doesn't DCS have to 'earn his place' first?? I thought loan players had to have at least 5 sub appearances of 10 minutes or less before they are deemed worthy? thats the best way to do things when youve had a group that have done as well as ours dont you think? that said roos and boateng went straight into the team. would you just put all 7 new players in to the team?
Well I don't see the point in loan signings unless they are better than what we already have, and I always say you play your best players regardless of the opposition. City started Abraham on the bench, he came on and scored, and has been scoring for fun since. That's the way to do it, these kids are not at Chelsea by fluke.

Aren't things different this season though in that we need cover until at least January? Plus DC started Boateng but reverted to Lines after his couple of impressive sub appearances.

That's a fair shout, I know its different with the way the loan process is now but even last season we hardly saw much of the Swansea lad McBurnie (who I think has a good future), and there have been other players we have loaned than hardly touched a ball on the pitch.
If I were the parent club of these players i'd be thinking twice about loaning us any more.

city were a bit of a mess for most of last season, many of there squad didnt perform but rovers did perform last season. point im trying to make is dc has to handle the influx of new players carefully to make sure we dont lose that togetherness and spirit thats been built up. plenty of chelsea kids dont make it in truth but colkett has looked good so far and im sure he will start any time soon.

When required........ He will'replace' Lee brown. He may also play as part of a back three when required. Connor Roberts will replace Dan leadbitter. Hasn't LB played virtually every match since we were relegated, I'd be surprised if DC was planning on replacing him with a lad with virtually no league experience. That is true ,maybe he might feel at this level Lee brown needs to step his game up a bit ,not get complacent. A bit of competition might be enough to do this (?)

I was alluding to the youngsters being used during the season in the said players positions rather than JSC totally replacing LB. In the way boateng or colkett have replaced midfield players like Clarke or Sinclair this season. The changes might be made to stop the existing fullbacks becoming complacent ,or to give them a rest or to ensure they don't get a booking that might make them miss an important match for example. Or their form might drop. Conceding a goal every game will have DC looking at where things can be improved (?)

Quite a nice problem to have. Pool 2 or 3 from: Locks - our boy wonder, reads game well and very assured for his age. Could go far in the game. Hartley - streetwise, solid and with a knack for a goal. James Clarke - versatile, deceptively mobile and seemingly much improved this year. McChrystal - elder statesman - yet to be seen but cracking record with us last year. Excellent man-marker of a big centre forward. Clarke-Salter - rave reviews at top youth level. Nice analysis. I would add that McChrystal has a beneficial affect on Lockyers game too. He and Tom seem to have a great understanding - the older man helps the younger and both benefit. I would like to see McChrystal get a game soon (probably EFL Trophy next week?) to keep him match prepared should we need him for a longer run through suspension or injury.
That's an interesting perspective, there is something reassuring about Lockyer and mcrrystal
