It's too little too late Olly, He vetoed the new investment and it's gone now. You don't get a chance to get someone like Daryl Eales very often. It's a non story really. Just strengthen Herr Higgs hand Eales could well be like Tan at Cardiff for all we know, first it was Birmingham City, then us, now Oxford, he hardly sounds a committed Gashead willing to invest in the club, which is what we all surely want. If you are only going to limit future application to commited Rovers fans then I would suggest we will not get anyone new in the door. Nick Higgs is Rovers but that has not worked well had it. Others say they don't want foreigners. Eales is not foreign and fronts up serious investment. Yes, we need to vet people but I'd suggest we cannot afford to turn away anymore serious offers from people like this. He has already put in decent amounts for Oxford to use right away. How we coukd have done with that this Summer eh

Short memories.... Quote from the 6th October 2006
Vice-chairman Ron Craig said Dunford's contribution to the club could not be underestimated.
"We don't want Geoff to step down, but we appreciate his decision," he said.
"He has given us plenty of notice to find a successor. Geoff's contribution to Bristol Rovers has been immense, from helping the club from near-insolvency to a home of our own back in Bristol.
"He has been strong and focused and has always put the Club first, sometimes to his own detriment."

2006 was the moment he should have stepped down from the board imo. The handling of the agenda for change and the handling of the boardroom split following our demise in league 2 was the beginning of the end for us and it wasn't even that good back then.

I do wish Geoff well, and I hope he does make a full recovery form his illness. Having said that I also agree with Dinsdale. I feel Higgs was always in GD's shadow when he took over as Chairman. I'm also concerned that our Board do seem to have blocked new investors who wanted to take the club forward. Certainly Mike Turl always said there were good football people ready to invest if and when Agenda for Change was accepted. I guess we'll never know what might have been, but the medium to long term decline of Bristol's senior club probably dates from that fateful day in Cardiff in May 2000. We do need some new faces on the board, some new investment, and some new ideas too.
