Although he played for the other lot it's incredibly bad news that he's lost his battle with cancer.

Very sad news. A Bristol footballing legend. The engine house of that successful City team. R.I.P.

One of my first football memories is going to see him play (and manage) at Yeovil Town. I remember the curly hair! I knew he was a legend but at 7 years old I didn't know why. I didn't realise he had been playing in the FA Cup Final only a couple of years previously. RIP.

Sad news. Somethings transcend footballing rivalries, hope both clubs can unite for a good cause in his memory.
RIP Gerry.

Sad to read of Gerry Gows passing. With him and Frankie Prince on the same pitch, you could expect some hard tackling. Gerry Gow went on to play for Manchester City.
RIP Gerry Gow.

So sorry to hear that , the majority of my family are city fans so I do know what a legend the guy was. Rest in peace.

Very sad news. I remember his battles with Frankie which replicated the ones with Pitt and Peacock in the 50's. Condolences to family and friends. R.I.P Gerry.

Nice to see a thread about "the other lot" without the bickering.
RIP Gery Gow, another one sadly taken too soon by the evil disease cancer.

What a player he was mind!
Great servant to City, I fondly remember reading about him as I delivered the Green Un on a Saturday tea time. Bloody good team they had back then.
Rest in peace and thoughts go out to his family and friends.

As a gashead it was a delight to see local derbies with Frankie Prince and Gerry Gow in full flow. Fantastic full blooded football. Without a doubt for my money the best footballer in City colours of that generation. Thanks for the memories RIP.

When Frankie and Gerry came together in a tackle the ground used to shudder. Gow was the better all round player whereas Frankie was an enforcer.
Didn't Tom Richie come down from Scotland at the same time? City had some decent Scots back then.
Great shame he's passed on, far too early and thoughts are with his family.

Just heard this. Shocked & saddened. Too young to go, but that's cancer. Great player in a great team.

Massive admiration for Gerry and witnessed first hand at Derby games what playing in the City shirt really meant to him. Class player and good honest professional, maybe of the likes never to be seen again. Football rivalry takes a back seat here as we unite together against the horrible disease that took him away.. God bless Gerry, condolences to family, friends and City supporters.. RIP.. From a Gashead..

RIP Gerry. Definitely a Bristol football legend and one of the original all action midfielders who always gave 100%. A hard but fair player who's career record does the talking for him.

Living in the posh part of 'artcliffe, like wot I do, my mates and I used the Baccy Jar as our local back in the 70s. Many city players used to live in Whitchurch and used the Baccy as well. One night, my mate was putting some music on the juke box when Gerry Gow asked him if he could choose one: My mate told him he could, as long as it was Goodnight Irene He was a hard and skilful player: It was no surprise that he left Ashton Gate when they got relegated, to continue playing at the top level with Man City, as his talents were well worthy of that. I am sure he fought the disease as hard as he played his game. For him to pass away at 64 is very sad.
