My mate worked on the policing al the time at Twerton, and he stood at the back of crackers corner, he said to me one night "why is Gerry Francis always going on holiday?" He thought Gerry Francis blue and white army was Gerry Francis going on holiday, in fact he used to sing along using the wrong words!

I sing 'Sometimes we sh** on the City, sometimes we sh** on the Town' in the hope that it will catch on.
Still waiting.
(Although to be fair, I can't remember the last time we sang that verse.)

In 'You Are My Rovers', loads of people sing 'You'll never notice how much I love you', rather than 'You'll never know dear....

When I was a kid, in my innocence I thought it was 'the only good City fans have gone downstairs' and it confused the hell out of me!

Not wrong words but no words,. What really irritates me is the way that the end of the opening verse to Irene is sang so fast that there are no words. What the f**k is up with people? It's "so we made a promise that we'll never part so goodnight Irene I'll see you in my dreams'
At the Wembley games and other big matches with a massive away following the opening verse isn't sing at all!

As a kid, I always thought the chant from the Blackthorn End after the opposing goalkeeper's goal kick was "Watch It, ARRRRR!"

It's "so we made a promise that we'll never part so goodnight Irene I'll see you in my dreams' At the Wembley games and other big matches with a massive away following the opening verse isn't sing at all! The reason it doesn't work is that the Rovers verse is bullshit in regard to the actual song. The real song goes kinda like: da DA da da DA da da DAAAA da DA da da DA da da DAAAA da DA da da DA da da DAAAA da DA da... DA da... DAAAAA whereas the Rovers verse goes like: da DA da DAAAA da da DA da DAAAA da DA da DAAAA da da DA da DA (and White!) da DA da da DAAAA da ...DA da da DA da DA da DA da DA da DA da DAAAA (or something) It's a f**king mess and it doesn't work. What should be sung if you want it to be singable and scan with the rest of the song is something more like: We are the Rovers supporters We are all faithful and true We blah BLAH blah blah BLAH blah blah BLAHHHH And follow the boys in blue

I used to think the eloquently written chant used when we need a bit of fight in the team that starts with one guy shouting "get into em!" before everyone else reply's with "f### em up!" (We don't seem to do this much these days, maybe it needs to be resurrected, although with the beard in the side we don't really need to) went "get Ellington" "f### em up".. It wasn't till the Duke left and we carried on singing it that I listened more carefully and figured it out.

My mate told his young son last year that the fans were singing Ooooooh, goal kick ahhhhh. I did the very same!! He only found out the real words at the end of last season thanks to some North Terrace interlopers in the South Stand on the last game of the season.
