Just read the Oldham fans forum which has a lot of good praise for the 800 travelling gas heads. This was my favourite:

Just read the Oldham fans forum which has a lot of good praise for the 800 travelling gas heads. Except that we keep getting called "Bristol" and in their prediction thread before the game pretty much all of them predicted they would stuff us (7-0 was one prediction) and that "Bristol" would bring about 150 fans. Clueless wankers, and if we are called Bristol by people in Manchester we should return the complement when talking about their teams. After all why should we give a f**k about them anymore than they do about us? They are both the same aren't they?

I can think of a lot of worse things we've been called over the years. Only got back about 9-30, but still buzzing. God only knows what the end of this season will bring, but I for one wouldn't bet against it.

Amazingly we have now taken 7 pts out of the last 9 and two of those were away games Unless I'm going mad 4 of our next 5 league games are at home? just to stretch this out - we've actually got a staggering 7 games out of 10 at Home until the end of the year. I hope that's good news, but teams playing away got a lot of away wins today (just look in our division today - 6 away wins).

I've never been to Oldham so was looking forward to this one. Me and my lad boarded the 0900 to Manchester and arrived at Picadilly at 1200. Bought two Burger King Whopper meals (other brands are available) from an outlet in the station concourse and ate them at a table just outside the station and in the warm autumn sunshine.
We had a 5 minute walk to Picadilly Gardens where many busses stop. Was trying to figure out which one to catch when a bloke with his lad asked "Are you going to Oldham"? - my lad was wearing his away kit. He advised us which bus to catch. Had a chat and it transpired they're doing the 92 and this was their 71st ground.
A half hour ride through the scruffy Manchester suburbs saw us arrive within sight of Boundary Park ( I refuse to call it The Sports Direct Stadium) and managed to find a Frankie & Bennies on a ubiquitous retail park adjacent to the ground. Had a leisurely pint and walked up the hill to the ground. It was noticeable how few home fans seemed to be on their way, especially as it was about 1440.
When in the away end it was great to see so many travelling Gasheads and looking around the stadium the home support looked sparse to say the least. The match started and we looked very comfortable with the ball. Oldham huffed and puffed but did very little and were easily contained. We were winning hands down in the supporters stakes, the noise being generated by our fans was awesome, while they seemed to have a handful of fans in the new stand to our left who were desperately trying to make themselves heard and were failing miserably. When we scored the end went berserk, what a strike, absolutely leathered it into the net and the keeper had no chance.
In the second half we had to weather the storm for 15 or so minutes as they really went for it. One thing you know you're going to get from a DC side is that it will keep its shape and discipline and that's what we did. Superb! Was a little bit worried when Hartley was injured but Clarke Salter fitted in seamlessly and then buried his header into the bottom corner. What happened next reminded me of the bad times under Trollope, Buckle, Mc Goo, Ward ( my God, how long did that period stretch?) most of their fans just got up and left! It was incredible, there was still 10 mins plus injury time to go but they just knew it was game over. That reminded me of just how lucky we are. Long may DC, Wael and everything else that is making our club so superb remain.
When the game finished there were the usual congratulations exchanged between the players, manager and fans then out of the ground for the walk back to the bus stop. Had to wait until 1800 for th bus, several didn't turn up (First run Manchester busses) and we caught the 1907 from Picadilly to BTM. getting back at 2210.
I have to say I was a it envious as I watched the SC coaches drive past us just after the game ended. I was thinking it would have been better to drive up but I've seen it mentioned that the M6 was horrendous. Can anyone confirm?
All in all a brilliant day out, let's pack The !em next Saturday, Wael, DC and these lads deserve it.

There's major roadworks around Manchester as they are making a long stretch a smart motorway, some times you can get stuck for an hour, others have a clear run.
They are also finally making the A56 into a dual carriageway, which will make our trips to Old Trafford and the Etihad easier when we're in the Premiership!

Haven't read the whole thread - has anyone mentioned at least 2 brilliant saves from Roos? Lol, don't worry about that! That only matters if we drew or lost.

I love Mildy & I'd hope he might have a future with us. But we have to move on. & I think we've all agreed DC does seem to know what he's doing..,... Doesn't he? ?

I'm livid at the lack of info given out on this. Where's the Highways Agency? If I'd known I'd have come off the M6 & gone via Macclesfield. & please don't say a warning was on some obscure website. Why not large signs in the Walsall area? But that would be imaginative creative thinking - something missing from public services.

What makes my laugh is when they won L1 it was a hard league and we would struggle but now it's a really easy league.

Shtheads love to talk about us, they full of bollox, wouldnt expect anything less, course the league easier this year.
They are being carried by 20 year old loanee. Tammy Abraham must be a regular at the chiropractors. Love too see how they get on without him, as much as I wouldnt wish injury on anyone.

Easy to get a rise from those muppets. NB: have a look at the thread Atmosphere. They are discussing us more and more, i wonder why that is. The pressure on them to go up this year will increase the more likely it becomes we could be in the same division. 18 months ago before mansell's kick the gap was 3 divisions.

The above is true they spent 40 odd million to win league 1 and were very close to league 2 before Steve 'fan abuser' Cotterell turned up and they turned on him too.
We have spent next to nohing and are 5th in league 1 first season back - go figure.

In my defence I was trying to give a holistic view of the day from my perspective, rather than a Stevie K players summary at which he excels. However with repect to Roos, I thought he gave an 8 out of 10 performance. His positioning, handling and command of his area seemed assured. He made what from the far end of the pitch looked to be 2, maybe 3 excellent saves. The only criticism I can offer is that he punted a few kicks straight to their keeper, who got a fair bit from our fans when defending at our end!
