Can I be a killjoy? I bet the atmosphere suffers. All the extra fans will be glory hunters who'll start moaning if we're not 3 up inside 20 minutes. As someone who lives a long way away, this attitude really hacks me off! Maybe, just maybe, there's people who can't go every week but have decided to make the extra effort to be there to support the team based on recent success. And breathe...

Regardless, you have to admit the atmosphere does drop when we get a 10K+ gate? As far as this mailshot is concerned, why don't the club attractively seek fans who want to be added to the mailing list.

Ummmm i remember a game at the end of last season that had 11K plus people and the "atmosphere" did not drop.... The only thing that did drop was one of Baggy's love puffs and that cleared a whole block of fans...

You have just discribed the average Rovers fan from anywhere in the ground. It has got a bit better the past couple of seasons but even after the first misplaced pass of the game the loud groans and shouting begin. Embarrassing to say the least but that's true supporters for you. Regards emails I have been receiving them for years. But I have heard that are quite selective

Regardless, you have to admit the atmosphere does drop when we get a 10K+ gate? Absolute cobblers. If the atmosphere is great with 5-7000, you suggest that with 3000 extra it drops. Do you mean those that create the atmosphere in the first place stop singing and shouting because of the extra fans? Did you go saturday? The atmosphere up there was fantastic, and that was only 850 of us. Presumably we would still go even if there was 10,000 in total.

I guess if we're at sell out and the stubborn supporters who refuse to buy season tickets and tickets in advance can't get in at the expense of 'part timers' (don't like this label) then the atmosphere may be a bit lower than had they have got tickets.
A bigger crowd generally means a fantastic atmosphere at the mem. The tail end of last season was phenomenal and a few more wins and we could see that come back if we climb further towards the top.

just confirmation of exactly why we desperately need the new stadium.... if we were there now we'd be touching close on 15000 I reckon.... You do realise your post will probably end up on One Totally Inbread Bollock-licker dont you

When everybody but an idiot knows if we're playing well the atmosphere is always better away from home, that's one of the attractions of going to away games. I've supported Rovers long enough to know when we get a big crowd at this time of the season the atmosphere will go flat if we were not winning/dominating play so, sorry, but it's you taking absolute cobblers. Let's see what Saturday brings, hopefully plenty of goals so the atmosphere stays good the whole game,

I know a lot of people who used to be casuals who now have a season ticket and lots of people who used to go 3 or 4 games a season that now go 10.

Remember Daggers, Plymouth etc etc. Did I touch a nerve Topper? Besides you have to compare like to like. If we are playing well at home the atmosphere is great if only because there is a lot more of us. By the way, did you go saturday? The only reason I ask is that you could ease off the number of posts you make and make a more viable contribution to the atmosphere.

10,000 for Saturday, how many for Tuesday vs Fleetwood and bring a mate deal?
I'd be disappointed if we didn't restrict the away lot and sell out!

Read my post again, I said at this time of the season, if we don't get a decent atmosphere at the Mem for the end of season play off games etc we my as all well give up supporting the club.

This was what I responded too. Don't alter facts to respond Topper. By the way, did you go Saturday? You would have loved it. Much better than using a keyboard.

Speaking of atmosphere, I drove past AG last night on the way to, and on the way back from my mother's house.
It was like the lights are on, but nobody is home! I know a game was taking place, but there was not a sound coming from the crowd.
Genuine question - have they installed some sort of noise pollution control that stops sound emanating from the ground?
