According to the latest newsletter from BRFC HQ. 10,000 plus are expected Saturday. Tremendous and we will be selling out every game soon, so no more will people be able to take a half arsed approach to attending games, you will be in or out. Decision time because we are on the up to where we've never been before. It's gonna be like Star Trek!

It's in Pirate news which is an e mail circular I get. It says "On Saturday, Rovers welcome Peterborough United to The Memorial Stadium. Last time the sides met in 2011, Jeff Hughes' second half-goal denied 10-man Peterborough as Rovers earned a 2-2 draw at the Memorial Stadium in front of 6,589. ‘Early Bird’ Tickets are available for both sets of supporters. All Terrace areas and South West Stand Seats are still available for the game so get your ticket today. We are expecting a crowd in excess of 10,000, therefore please arrive in good time to avoid queues.

From memory, I think that a sign-up campaign was run a couple of years back on the official site.

Online ticket sales, gas player membership, brfc direct would all be used to establish a marketing database. Something I'd love to get involved with. Lots of exciting data you wouldn't even believe!

Can I be a killjoy? I bet the atmosphere suffers. All the extra fans will be glory hunters who'll start moaning if we're not 3 up inside 20 minutes.

I've just started receiving these newsletters via e-mail, so somebody at the club must be starting to make better use of the database.

The same diehards will be there though so why should it suffer ? id much rather be in the Mem with 10,000 fans than 5,000 super fans and half empty stands/terraces .

Would you rather have half a pint of beer, or half a pint of beer mixed with half a pint of water in a pint glass? (Answer: A pint of beer, obviously) They should restrict the attendance to 4,000 and only allow in people who can produce receipts or tickets or selfies from places like Altrincham and Braintree.

I think the reason I do not get these is because I usually untick the box about communications as I did not think it was clear that my email address would not be passed to "third parties" for unwanted trash.

Odd I get a weekly Rovers newsletter on a Friday but no sign of the "Pirate News" so far but why don't Rovers publish link to this on their website & also on their twitter feed. As far as twitter I see they've just replied to one tweet saying they expect a large crowd.

Ironically "she who casts no shadow", who has no interest whatsoever in the Gas (her family are all Norwich supporters, and yes, some of them do have slightly webbed hands & feet) received an e-mail having only ever made one online purchase from the shop. I didn't get one although I pledged allegiance over forty years ago but only ever make over the counter transactions. I guess that's the price you pay for being a fair weather glory hunter. P.s. don't like prawn sandwiches.
