Is it just me or has Matty's game changed ?
His work rate seems to have reduced significantly, whereas he used to make the opposition battle for every ball he seems content to let them go,float around, pick up the ball and run at defences.
Not a criticism, more a case of wondering if his game has matured and he is now closer to the finished article ?

I thought he was excellent last night. His first touch his vision and shooting is second to none in this division , a few times he hit first time volleys out wide to our wingers it seemed without even looking, the old reverse pass which seems to be one of trademarks. He doesn't get stuck in much but I'm glad really if there's one player we don't want to get you know what it's Matty Taylor.

Think he has looked the most complete he ever has with us so far this season.

Your correct; however, his job is to score goals and he has banged in 12 already this season; leading to further speculation that he will be away to another club during the January transfer window.

Ellis was absolutely useless last night GGMI, won one header all night and put that over the bar.Easily handled by Bolger, Bunny and Co. Gaffney came on for him and immediately caused trouble for them and was winning the battles and laying the ball off with his head and chest to players in blue, something ellis failed to do all night. Ellis is a good impact sub for the last ten minutes against tiring defenders as far as I am concerned.

As regards Taylor, his best performance for a while. He was not overdoing things last night unlike last Saturday and was shooting on sight from the off, without needing three or four touches before deciding what to do. Some efforts way off target but rather that than overdoing things and losing the ball without a strike on goal. Came up with another goal superbly created by Danny.

Fair enough guys. I'm on holiday. Just defending him as I have given him olenty of stick in the past but feel he has improved his all round game this season. Disappointed to hear he didn't turn up last night. Gaffney has definitely hit a purple path this past month though!

He was also poor on Saturday, it's disappointing that as Gaffney finds his form Harrison now seems to have lost interest again. Perhaps there's a connection, who knows.

Gaffney should start, I feel he poses more of a threat
Ellis can jump but his first touch and finishing especially on headers is poor Imo, I'm not jazzed on his workrate to be honest
But we should support all our lads on the pitch, they are all chipping in and apparently not moaning about rotation

Imagine Rickie Lambert getting on the end of Leads' and Monty's crosses (instead of Ellis)...just an idea.

Yes January without MT could be hard time but DC brought Luke James in for a reason and I can't see him playing with MT so Im presuming a like for like replacement if MT goes. Hope he stays and stays but it will depend upon who comes in for him. If it's not much better than us or if they are in deep doo doo MT might decide to stay after all I expect his contract is a much better one now and he may wait for the summer. Either way he owes us nought, great player and god knows where we'd be without his goals over past 3 seasons. TBH I think I do know where we'd be!!
