I'm not talking about the fateful day at Wembley.
But:

Our first game in the conference.
Although, I'd go on to attend 17 of our home games that season unfortunately (although at the time I considered myself lucky) I did not attend the first one (too skint and it was on tele).
Instead that day I found myself in midsomer norton catching up with two university pals. I convinced them that we should go to pub to see what this 'BT Sport' was about. To my "surprise" Bristol Rovers Vs Grimbsy was on tele and we settled down into the match. Now, these two mates; one is a Liverpool fan and the other supports Arsenal. Both are serious fans, both season ticket holders.
As soon as the game began it felt as if time had slowed to a halt. This was the most 'nil-nil' of all 'nil-nils.' Look at the stats - there wasn't even a single corner. At half time I remember the pundits did a piece on 'Bristol Rovers' long balls. Even more vividly, I remember the TV suddenly cutting out. A quick glance to the power source revealed a toddler holding a plug unaware what he had done but seemingly impressed with the cheers he'd received for giving the viewers a rest-byte from the mediocrity.
It had been an awful game, I left the pub feeling bleak about the upcoming season.
HOWEVER -
Those boys through hard work, team spirit and bloody decent skill turned it around. Many of those in that squad are still with us today and those who aren't still contributed to where we are now: Monks and Parkes in particular.
We have come so far in a quick period time.
Our current matchday squad is filled with Bristol Rovers heroes. There aren't many Rovers players outside of this squad that have achieved 2 promotions for us! This is a rare moment in our history.
Normal practice in the lower leagues would suggest that a once a player has a decent season- a team from the division above come in a you've lost the fans favourite. Even promotion cannot guarantee your stars stay - just ask Oxford. Yet, at Bristol Rovers FC we have managed to build a team of stars and keep them.
And I believe they may have one more promotion in them yet.
Come on you blues.
