Maybe we just need to brainwash gaffers into thinking he's on loan again!
Gaffney scored more goals in his loan spell than he has since he came here permanently, despite playing over 3 times as many games (albeit many as sub)!!
He does add a lot to the team other than goals, but goals should be how strikers are measured. If he could find his goalscoring touch he would be more valuable than Taylor imo.
I personally think results should be how all players are judged. To me Gaffney offers so much more to the team. The way he runs the channels and retains the ball allows us to attack more than when he isn't in the team. To me Harrison and Taylor are not a partnership and we tend to play the long ball as Harrison's movement is limited. No no ins or outs in Jan would suit me, unless players like Mansell and Lawrence are allowed to leave.

As keepers go why did we let Puddy become cup tied at Braintree, now we're stuck w/o an experienced back up goalie in the cup, on the flip side as Derby are content for Roos to become cup tied for us I assume that means he's likely to be here for the rest of the season? As regards Gaffers whilst posters are saying now he should start every game he was pretty awful at the start of the season and DC seems to be managing him just right to try and get the best out of him, he just needs to start scoring again asap. I can't see what the attraction is for FGR with Ricky Miller..... www.leightonbuzzardonline.co.uk/news/crime/ricky-miller-charged-with-assault-1-6777282Whilst he was eventually found not guilty I can't us going anywhere near him.

Luke Coulson of Eastleigh anyone? Can play left or right midfield or in the hole and has pace to burn scored 7 this season. Looked decent against Swindle on box.

Don't think Miller would fit with DCs view of players as people, not his type of person, though a good player. But probably fit well into FGR after who they have signed over the past 3/4 years!! And who we sign will depend upon what happens with MT? He stays nothing much happens. He goes we may sign one one to replace but I still think Luke James was signed as a straight replacement for MT, so it wouldn't surprise me if we sign no one. Don't think DC would come out and say this but I think this season is a free run at it with a squad that he is loyal to. We have our share of loanees so don't don't expect more. I just feel whatever good happens this year is a free and unexpected bonus. I expect big changes in the summer when players who have been loyal and well treated will finally go and the squad will evolve with only a handful of conference players being kept and next year we will see a concerted effort to gain promotion or be in the mix at least. Sorry, long way of saying I don't expect much in January. UTG!

So with all this talk of not bringing anyone in, I guess we here are confident Matty will stay?

Also depends which loanees go back to their respective clubs. I wish for another taller striker to play up front with Taylor. A bit like ( Smash & Grab ). The guy from Wimbledon would be a good purchase. I,ve lost all confidence in Ellis and can only see him as an impact player at best.
So for me only one signing in Jan if we keep everyone else. Think the summer is when we are going to see a lot of movement both incoming & outgoing.

DC has already said not to expect much business this transfer window.

Since I saw him in the play offs last season I've kept an eye on Dover's striker Ricky Miller who normally averages a goal every other game at conference level. He didn't do so well at Luton Town but largely had sub appearances. 27 years old, 6'2 and is a right handful!! He looked good against us in the conference and would have liked him then. Not now though.

Did Matty sign a 1 year deal or do we still not know? Wrong forum mate. Apparently the only people that know the length and clauses of Matty's contract hang out on otib. Last I saw, they were saying he had a 1yr contract with a 325K release clause. The truth is of course, nobody apart from Matty, his agent, and the club know as the details were never disclosed.

I would have thought some details would have got out, nothing is ever watertight at this club.
The teds would have more luck guessing the length of Matty's trouser beast, at least they would have probably seen that!
£325k would be a steal.

Id rather we kept Taylor than sold him for £2 m let alone £300,000. It's alright having the money but finding the right replacement with it is another thing. We could sell him and then go out and spend big on a couple of other strikers who could both fail to do well. At least with Taylor he's tried and tested and let's face it he's been brilliant for us.

Unfair to single out Higgs. Who was chairman when we got £2M for Roberts? Who was chairman when we got £2M for Hayles?

At least under the previous the chairman we were run on a more or less even keel, I can never understand what NH long term plan was apart from hope a miracle happened and a billionaire bought us, if Wael had bought Gillingham then it's anybody's guess where we would be now.

If Taylor leaves in Jan would want at least 3-4million. Can see us buying 2 strikers with the cash. Martyn Waghorn of rangers a good replacement.

it must be quite possible that there is a release clause in taylors contract triggered by an offer of a certain amount of money and that its below his real market value.
