8 weeks until window opens. We are going great and well placed for a top 6 push. A lot will probably say its not who we get in but who can keep ie Matty Taylor ect. The squad generally have not been outplayed and have performed to a very high standard in most games, 21 so far. I don't want this to become a forum for who should be leaving or sent out on loan, purely what position(s) need strengthening or not in order maintain our current league position.
I would like to see a new striker and a winger, as I feel we need more killer instinct to put teams to bed.

Need a goal scorer.Love Gaffers and Easter but they ain't exactly prolific.Get the Peterborough loanee to return and if Browner got injured we don't have cover. We have two wingers but need a better back up keeper.Make Hartley skipper.Think that's it for now.UTG.

Given Hartley is struggling to retain his place over JCS then why on earth would DC make him Captain, plus what would that do for Locks confidence?
Roberts, if he stays, can also play LB so that position is already covered.
I'd look to spend some decent money on a new co striker for MT, as if DC can find one who can score we could well go up.
Not sure we need another winger given thatMonty, Moore, James & Bodin (is he injured?) hardly get any game time.

Same as I'd have said this time last year, we need a consistent goal scorer. Looking at what we've come up against so far, I don't think we should fear anybody stopping us getting top 6, but need to keep the goals coming and score more reliably to get promoted. Obviously if we lose people I'd think differently, but I really do think we can keep the squad together, MT included.

Can't see we need any changes in January. The priority is holding on to what we have for me.

Another Striker and a right back for me. If we would be willing to sign a league 2 striker and Michael Smith shaped right back i would be over the moon.
Gaffer has been great last couple games, in terms of holding up the ball and defending from the front, but doesn't score anywhere near enough for me - good squad player to have though against teams with big defenders.
Harrison and James, haven't taken their opportunities, just dont do enough, creating chance or scoring goals themselves. Harrison running out of chances to prove he could be good league 1 player. James hasn't had that much game time but when he has played i struggle to see what he offers that any other our other players dont.
I like Daniel Leadbitter, but i don't see him as an all round solid defender, hes great if you want someone with bit of pace to come on and give the tiring wide players some trouble. I believe someone like Michael Smith who looks even more defensively sound now and can be pushed forward always look comfortable on the ball would improve our starting 11 tenfold. Again Leadbitter is another good squad player who would be great coming off the bench.

I feel having such a big squad will work in our favor next year and hopefully we will have a lot of fresher players than the other teams.
Not to mention that the last two years the second half of the season is when we have been better than all the rest and that's without many January changes.
Its just a nice feeling coming up to a transfer window where we don't need much, if anything.

Since I saw him in the play offs last season I've kept an eye on Dover's striker Ricky Miller who normally averages a goal every other game at conference level.
He didn't do so well at Luton Town but largely had sub appearances. 27 years old, 6'2 and is a right handful!!

That's true, although Miller scores regularly and has a bit of nastiness to his game which is something we lack sometimes.

I think Gafney could be a goal scorer st this level he certainly was in Ireland but I think his game alongside Taylor is as a supporting player and he does that job really well. When Gaf plays alongside Taylor Taylor scores goals. I'd like to see those two start every game and if we can keep all our best players I don't think we need to buy or sign anyone this Jan.

I hope Gaffney discovers his goalscoring touch soon as I do rate him as a player.
Maybe Dover would be willing to do a straight swop with Ellis for Miller?

Maybe we just need to brainwash gaffers into thinking he's on loan again!

Gaffney scored more goals in his loan spell than he has since he came here permanently, despite playing over 3 times as many games (albeit many as sub)!!
He does add a lot to the team other than goals, but goals should be how strikers are measured. If he could find his goalscoring touch he would be more valuable than Taylor imo.

Yeah that's the only worry, and he wont be cheap to buy in Jan (although he would be free in the summer). FGR are sniffing but Dover wont sell to anyone in the same division.
I was extremely impressed seeing him against FGR in last seasons play offs, and he has scored 15 already including one against a L2 side on Saturday. His goal ratio is amazing.
I would say he has bits of both Taylor and Gaffney in him and I think he would be a fans favourite here.

Easter looked great early doors until his suspension scuppered it a bit. Harrison doesn't do it for me, but he does seem to have a knack of scoring important goals late on in games. Gaffers for me should be starting with Taylor. Sure he doesn't score enough, but he does more than the others to warrant a starting position, plus he causes defenders all kinds of problems.
Leads is IMO the best attacking right back in the division, and seeing as we are an attacking team, he is a perfect fit. With the formation of 5-3-2 he has more than enough cover to give him freedom, and even when playing in 442 he copes well and still gets forward well, so I don't think that needs to change.
We need a keeper for sure, and if we get 3 wishes, then a proper CB to go with locks would be nice, and a LB to add to competition for Browner would be nice also.... otherwise we are very solid and should achieve top 6 this season providing we don't get many injuries

I would love to see us push the boat out and sign an experienced keeper, someone like Etheridge at Walsall.
