Do you trust DC to spend money wisely and to actually do what he is always saying. Personally I have my doubts. He has been "moving players on" for 2 years in his head but I think it is one centre half and a few youth players that he has "moved on". Then lets look at the squad, Mildenhall "he wont play for us again, oh yes he will. It's a panto, and not a good one. Gosling, ah I bet you had forgotten about him. Speaking of which Lawrence, a "good signing" 99% of gasheads said (I was the 1%)Where is he? Does anyone think he can still bring something to the table? (Make mine a pastie Lawrence old boy). Mc Crystal, should have left over the summer but was duped in to believing he would play. Then there is our penalty hero. Time up Mr Mansell. Lets move on to the team. Roos gets a lot of stick but maybe he should change his name to lady gardene. Having said that being Dutch he should be used to plugging up holes. Daniel Leadbitter, so easily pushed off the ball; he better not go to the January sales he will be murdered by those women. Lockyear, like a good bottle of vintage champagne; undropable. Then Hartley, slow, cumbersome. Why did we sign a player from a division below? Surely we would have been better signing one from above? Having said that the mysterious Mr Moore. A little better than Billy, but it's like saying the fist slice in the loaf is better than the second, not a lot between them. Then the Clarkes. I have always like Ollie, but he is as consistant as the weather, and on the showing of today James should look around. Hero and good bloke Brown. Sorry to say has reached his level. Lines, lots of faults but has the experience and the vision the others don't. Oh how we wish that Mr Easter was 10 years younger. Sinclair, gives everything every game. Runs for 90 minutes plus injury, but is far too often out of position and lacks the vision to put through a good forward pass. Gaffney, getting better, because at the moment he is not good enough. Harrison, another one who "would not play for the club again". We should have left it at that point. Monty and James I think both could be an asset but both would blossom because they are both skilful, they just need to practice taking the ball down from head height because that is the passes they are getting at the moment. DC has talked the talk over and over about players "being on their way" I have yet to see any action. In fact he has kept players on even though they will never play for us again. If you ever get to speak to him, then ask him what his favourite song is. I bet it is "Never can say goodbye" Problem is if you promise players a new contract if they pull off the impossible and get us promoted, then what else can a manager do when they do get us promoted, risk being sued for breach of contract if you don't offer every player a new contract? We were all happy last May, when now just have take the medicine. Seems to me all this summer's new signings were done on the cheap, whether that was down to DC trying to be clever with his budget or Wael not backing DC will become a bit clearer when we see who's brought in come January. We need two quality CB's, a CM and a CF.

We are lacking player who can lead, coach and organise on the pitch. We don't have generals out there. more than 1

We have too many players who are not League 1 quality and who would struggle to get a club in this division and some who would struggle to get in a club in the division below. The time is right for a clear out in January and getting quality in which will cost money. You can't go any further without quality and effort and commitment is not good enough alone. DC has performed miracles to get us where we are but now has to spend wisely to get the squad needed to push for Play Offs.

I still think that if we played a pretty settled side most weeks that we'd give most sides a game. Just because our squad is bigger doesn't mean you can constantly change the team, you'd struggle to do that with "world class players "

This. I firmly believe we wouldn't be shipping some of the goals we are with Mansell on the pitch. Totally agree, and stapletongas seems to describe him perfectly. DC has said players who have had to wait will now get their chance - I think we'll see LM next Saturday.

There was a typo in there, did mean to type players.
Some players just have this gift of presence on the pitch. They take the manager's instructions out on the pitch, they bark the orders, they pull players into position, they give a kick up the backside to those who need it, they pick up those who need it...and the team look up to them, respond and get the best out of themselves.
Mildy had a bit of that with his back line, Macca had some of this about him, Manse was a general. Lawrence brought some of these elements too.
What we now need is the next batch of characters but with top 6 league one/championship capabilities.
Until January, at least get Manse back out on the pitch and give him the armband.

I think DC has been patient with the players that have not cut it. He has now however blown it out the water going public with our failings. Next few weeks we need men on the pitch i.e. Manse and maybe Macca. Leadership is missing on the pitch we need to buy leaders.

Given the way he was talking today, sounds like DC is confident and ready to pounce. I really hope that is the case and the strengthening of the back room team pays dividends in allowing us to do some proper business quickly. It's always felt like we get left to pick over the crumbs on the table in the past but we have to go in to the market with pace and confidence and the money ready. Getting our targets in early and settled could make a massive difference vs waiting to midnight on deadline day

Evolution no revolution...2 or 3 good quality league 1 players over Christmas/new year, a strong central defender whose over 6 foot, a quality midfielder who can tackle and break-up play and an experienced goalkeeper are the three priorities for me. Then another 2 or 3 signings in the summer who are capable of stepping up a league would be needed - a strong striker who can hold-up the ball,a winger and a full=back who is capable of playing wing-back.

IMO there's a lot of the squad that will need replacing over the next two windows if we're to compete at the top end of L1, but in January we desperately need to sort out the spine of the team:
1 x GK 1 x CB 1 x CDM 1 x CF
We need a few strong characters and experienced leaders down the centre of the side, because at the moment we're soft as sh*t.

If we don't bid on Omar Bogle has to be around £100,000 mark And graham carey £350,000 mark...then that's shows you our ambition...we recieved £400,000 from Chelsea game according to posts on here so Harrison sold and bogle in...Lawrence out and Carey in... And realistically we need two keepers but I can't see that happening I haven't seen any I've been impressed with to mind

And he will cost more than that Up front is the one position we don't need to worry about right now. If Taylor went then yes i would be a worry but Taylor and Gaffney is a more than adequate strikeforce for league 1.

Mcburnie made a late substitute appearance for Swansea yesterday and Grimsby fans seem to think the bidding will start at £1m for Bogle,so both of these players probably won't be on the menu for us.
