www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37895152Oxford United have donated their share of the gate receipts from their FA Cup tie with Merstham to the non-leaguers. League One side Oxford beat seventh-tier Merstham 5-0 in the first round. "The spirit of goodwill in football needs to be enhanced," chairman Darryl Eales told BBC Radio Oxford. "It's the least we could do." "Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture and one of my pleas to the Premier League is that football at every level needs financing." Saturday's tie set a new record attendance of 1,920 for Isthmian Premier Division club Merstham. Both clubs received a fee of £67,500 after the tie was broadcast live on BT Sport, while Oxford also receive £18,000 for reaching the second round. "It's not as if Oxford is flush with cash," Eales added. "But, we keep talking about the Whole Game Solution and the Premier League need to understand that football at every level supports the pyramid. "The disproportionate share of the Premier League's cut of the cake is something that needs to be looked at."

Brilliant gesture by Oxford and their chairman.. The FA would do well to take note of what he is saying..

What are they giving back ? The share of the 1,920 crowd money or the TV money ?

Good gesture by the club. Less impressive is the 560 tickets they've sold for Chelsea U21 away tomorrow night. 560 too many.

Gate receipts from a non league crowd of less than 2,000 are probably less than £10K once expenses and the 50/50 split is taken into consideration, meanwhile, Oxford bank nearly £100K from the TV money and winning the round? Fair play if they've donated the full £100K to Measham.

to be fair Oxford made £67500 TV money and £18000 prize money, so £85000 in total, so all in all they've done financially very well out of the tie....
it's still a great gesture by Oxford as half of the gate money is worth loads to a non-profit league side, but the reality is that Oxford will be one of (if not the highest) earning sides of the round....

Well done Oxford, they've showed their Class just like Swindon did a couple of moths ago!
