This is a post I put on this board exactly 2 years ago yesterday. If every game doesn't quite go to plan like the first half last home game when the team appeared to be booed off at half time or maybe even in difficult away games like today at Millwall or the disappointing show at Crawley look at my brief synopsis of our trip to Alfreton below and compare the state we were in then to now to put everything in perspective. What a fantastic 2 years it has been!
1. A wet Tuesday in Alfreton, 315 hardy gashesds sheltering under the tiny stands to witness how far we have fallen.
2. The first half was a non event the only excitement came from a turn and shot from Jamie White.
3. Second half started the same then Brunt was through on goal and fell over. Harrison replaced him and Della Verde came on soon after and we started to exert some proper pressure. Sadly no one could take any of the chances and our whole sorry attacking threat was encapsulated with Parkes tame shot straight at the keeper when he looked certain to score.
4. Very little positives to take from the game against one of the poorest teams we will play. Della Verde is a definite class act compared to everything else out there and creates chances not that anyone is capable of taking them.
5. We need investment in this team fast, we cannot expect to achieve anything with players such as Martin and Leadbitter who lack even the basic ball control skills and no striker worthy of the name. If something doesn't change at the very top then we might be coming to grounds like Alfreton for many years to come.

Braintree was the real low point for me, my word how things have changed (& Leadbitter!)

Yeah, I went to Alfreton. And to cap it all the southbound slip onto the M1 was closed & I had tour half of Nottingham to get back on. And what a pitch! Sloped all over the place.

Personally I think using the term "Lest we forget" is totally inappropriate at this time of the year, unless you are talking about the real fallen.

Personally I think using the term "Lest we forget" is totally inappropriate at this time of the year, unless you are talking about the real fallen. The game at Alfreton was on 11th November. The term is NOT to take away from the people who have given their lives for their country but it is still appropriate in our case without wishing to trivialise it.

Are you sure about as I doubt phrases are now included? According to wiki it's a phrase used on Remembrance Day to remember does who died in war, nothing about remembering a game in the Conference

Rename this thread please
Lest we forget should only be used for the heroes of the war dead that allow us to live today

I have to say that, after the act of remember before the match (impeccably observed by both sets of fans) the game itself lost a bit of importance for me.
Also, what's with that dreadful goal celebration music?
I hope having to endure that American abomination isn't going to be a consequence of the new stadium.
If it ever happens.

Rename this thread please Lest we forget should only be used for the heroes of the war dead that allow us to live today Ok, it wasn't meant to cause offence. Mods change it to "In case we forget" please.
