I do wonder why the club are spend more money on the stadium beyond what is required for day to day running ??
Those new Gates must have cost a few bob and the are not going to generate any income
Upgrade facilities with in the stadium ( too numerous to list )
New sprinkler system
New water boilers etc
Are they preparing the stadium for a longer stay than the proposed 2 year build of UWE ?

It does give that impression doesn't it!
I can understand extra seating and food outlets to maximise income, but any other cosmetic improvements would seem rather pointless if agreement on a new stadium is imminent.
I don't waste much time waiting for news of the new stadium these days, if it happens it happens and as long as I have a football team to support that will do me.

Yet another thread with the UWE at the heart of it. They say you could not make it up, yet in the last twelve hours we have heard on here that the University are asking us for three times more than the originally agreed deal and then as a thankyou for them doing that we are asking someone from the Uni to join the board. One wonders what Victor Meldrew would say?

the boilers at the Mem were purchased second hand originally and break down on a regular basis, the call for the electrician at Saturdays game was for this reason. therefore replacing them is a priority, I was under the impression the gates were a security consideration and therefore not to do with income generation.

I was told this morning that a director, when asked about it,said the new stadium would take another 3 years. Maybe only an off-the-cuff remark,but......

The new gates will look smart and dapper at the new stadium. Some people need to think outside the box.

Yes but why buy them now specifically, I know gates can be moved but why not just buy them as the stadium is going up?
It all doesn't seem in keeping with a club which will be announcing a new stadium anytime soon.

Well, they could just let everything decay until UWE opens. In the old amateur way. Would that suit you?

Depends when UWE opens really doesn't it, if its within the next 5 years then no I don't think they should do anything to the ground that doesn't increase revenue.
I wouldn't service, wash and polish my 1992 Fiesta if i'm about to scrap it and get a new Audi.
The amateurish way would be spending money when its not needed.

how do we know the old gates weren't sh** and needed replacing?
The Mem has been rotting for 20 odd years because we were always moving or redeveloping. Things need fixing now because they have never been touched

Or maybe, just maybe, we aren't going anywhere anytime soon?
Some people need to wake up and smell the coffee.

The gates can also be taken with us if we want, and be give a lick of paint at the other end
No one knows anything right now and nothing proves anything

We just keep going around in circles on the forum, nobody really knows if we're moving to the UWE in a couple of years or stuck at the Mem for years. Perhaps if new members join the BoD soon we will get some clarification to what's actualyl goiong on.

Too many false dawns for me, there always seems to be stumbling blocks (now UWE asking for more money for land, then it will be something else). The UWE thread is 46 pages of nothingness.
On a side note was the clock and scoreboard really needed? I know it was getting difficult to keep the score on Tuesday but still...
