if Matty goes, IMHO Lyle would be an excellent replacement, yes he would cost money but we will need someone who replaces matty to hit the ground running, and we can keep singing the song! The main question would T boner our striking coach be happy!

Matty ain't going anywhere that's why he keeps missing sitters to put any watching scouts or spies off!! See my post re. Highlights. That may well be the case for scouts actually at the game but what about the extended highlights on GP, no doubt viewed by the scouts as well. No sign Saturday and several earlier in trhe season of sitters he has missed. With tongue in cheek, perhaps the club are trying to hide the misses in order to generate some readies from his sale.

No chance of getting him they won't let him go cheap but I bet Taylor will go on the cheap, can't see a championship side paying much for him he doesn't work hard enough

Striking is all about putting the ball into the onion bag - not running around for 90 minutes.l If you can put the ball into the net a good number of times then your value will go up quickly. 16 goals in League 1 before Xmas following on to his previous two seasons each at a better level will mean there will be no shortage of takers. Replacing him is NOT going to be easy.

How many goals has Lyle scored this season? 9 in 23 Why a bloke at Wimbledon would leave for us right now is another matter.

I really don't care too much about work rate with that record of success.

Goals win games, not work rate!

Was talking to someone connected with the club this morning and there is a 50/50 chance Taylor may go in Jan although he seemed to think that if we were knocking on the door of the play offs then he would likely stay.
If Taylor does go, then Omar Bogle at Grimsby would be a good replacement IMO.

Replacing him is NOT going to be easy. Just to be factually correct, he has scored 13 league goals, 2 FA Cup goals and one in the twats checkatrade cup. As for replacing him, January is the worst time to be buying players. Anyone any good is not going cheap if the club is going for promotion, or their club need to keep them to avoid relegation. Someone mentioned the guy at Wimbledon. How do we know if he has a cheap out pass to another club, just like the one all our closet experts seem to think MT has? Common sense would seem to indicate the rebuilding job should wait for the summer, but like everyone else we do need three or four new players now. It will be interesting to see how big Wael will fund it. Anyone we buy has to be of a quality that will get us promotion in the next 18 months, and be good enough for a year or two in the championship, or else we are wasting money. So it's no good buying three players for about £50k each, that is just money down the pan. And hopefully, anyone we buy will be no more than 24. They have to be still getting better.

Omar Bogle is a great shout for a replacement. In fact I would swap Taylor for him now. Somehow can't see us getting him. Forest and Wigan are favourites apparently, but would love us getting him.

Cheers for the info, don't suppose you know how many of those are in the league?? And I guess it depends on which club he feels he can progress furthest with.. we must at least have a pretty good sales pitch at the moment

As for Matty Taylor, I was told today his intro fee to start talking to him is £850,000.

I see that newsnow has confirmed that Forest, Wigan, Leeds and us are the interested clubs with regard to Bogle.
