He's been one of our best players this season yet again and probably our leading goal assist again too. I haven't got a problem with him and I doubt DC has either. Chris Lines has never been a ball winner and people expecting him to suddenly become one need to get real.

Lines is best at running at defenders opening the play up which he rarely does unfortunately

Running at defenders yes. Running forward. The game, though, is played in 2 directions. Running back matters.

Will have to work his way back into the team as no doubting his quality.

A re-energised Lines brought back into the fold with a point to prove will play a big part in the rest of the season. DC knows how to manage him and has dropped him before with good results.

Squad rotation I think it's called. Is this another finger pointing exercise?

Did many come out of the Barrow game with credit? If 8 players had been dropped, would that have been unreasonable?

"Promotion winning form" "Last season's form" A couple of phrases that appear on here.. Firstly, that was last season against lesser opposition. Secondly, these chaps still had bad games last year but time seems to erase that! Thirdly, we are doing pretty well this season after successive promotions with the same players.

Or could it be possible that given he is the wrong side of 30, he could be a bit knackered and that's why he's been off the pace?
I'm sure Chris, talismanic leader of Rovers 2 promotions, the best footballer at the club and lifelong player and fan, from our own local stock, doesn't decide to become lazy or not put in a shift. Whether it's physical or mental tiredness, I don't like this type of criticism of our one player who is Mr Bristol Rovers.
Far more likely that Chris has played a lot of minutes and needs a rest, as do lots of our players.
I see no promotions without CL these last two years so to me he is a legend, hence I am loathe to criticise him this strongly for a few games poor performances.
He did need a rest, as do a lot of our players. Look how he uses Easter, cameos, and odd games on dryer pitches. How many more years might he get from Easter, he still looks sharp and useful. Chris lines is still very good at L1, even champ he would be useful for certain situations. It's not worth ranting out players post 30, look at how fergie prolonged giggs, scholes, park etc careers, by not smashing their knees up 50+ games in a row till failure.
Form peaks, you play, form dips, you rest. We have pros lookin at this on a fitness basis, and DC can monitor attitude.
Either way I wouldn't condemn players for a couple of bad games.

I love Linesy and he has great ability but you must be blind if you can't sometimes see that he doesn't commit 100% to 50/50s/headers. DC wants players who have a strong mentality and prepared to get stuck in. He got the best out of Linesy before by dropping him and I hope he can do it again with this kick up the backside.

Any need for such a dramatic title to this thread? Lines has been dropped and whilst Boateng is performing he'll remain on the sidelines, although hasn't that been the case with virtually the entire squad this season apart from Brown, Locks & MT?
