Faith in the team and manager in the conference and league 2 was fine all worked together including the hordes of gas up and down the country.
But now are DC the players up to the task No not getting another promotion but to sustain our position in this league.
Saturdays game was the most disappointing and lack luster performance I have seen for years it does seem that the confidence has gone from the team , the tactics don't work anymore and we are being ridiculed, yes every team has its down side and a period of bad performances but against a Shrewsbury team that are bottom of the league, that are riddled by suspensions and injuries was an embarresment especially in front of a full house of away fans.
Yes Puddy had a howler for the first goal but more than made up for it 10 minutes later with a fine one handed save to put the ball over the top from close range. But look at the rest of the team as well Puddy did not loose us the match entirely by himself , like when we were relegated it was not Mansfield who relegated us it was the season as a whole.
Unfortunately I do now think that perhaps DC and the boys are fighting above their weight and we need to address this immediately starting with a goalkeeper we have not had a decent goalie since Nigel Martin and look at the keepers before him we always had a tremendous keeper in our side.
DC has done a great job for us getting us to where we are now but I di not think he has the experience to take us forward and that goes for playing staff as well.
At the moment Gary Rowlett who has just been sacked from Birmingham City for no reason at all is available and he could well be the additional link in the chain we need to stabalize and move forward he did a great job at the Blues with little or no budget and has the experience at a higher level. DC will become a great manager in time but I thing he needs to gain experience perhaps as a no 2 to a championship / premiership side.
Moving on to the match on Saturday
When oh when will we learn that in all seater stadiums especially when there is a full house that we are to sit in the allocated seats as per the ticket , I had to move 3 times because someone had my seat who said someone else had theirs etc etc , I spoke to the stadium manager at half time and he said that they had started to ensure that the fans sat in the correct seat but soon lost control of it because we took no notice, therefore they decided it was safer and easier to let us carry on which ended up a right mess especially when people were arriving at 3.10 looking for their seats
By the way I thought the stewards were wonderful and very happy and helpful nothing over the top just sensible stewarding.
One last note about the Weetabix , yes I love it and think it is harmless good fun but the idiot who sat in block 22 , row J approx. seat 28 who was intent at throwing them at the stewards and hit one steward just above the eye spoils it for everyone.

Appreciate your well thought out post, and you may well be right about DC. However, we are on a bad run and are not at a "sack the manager" stage yet.
If DC is backed by the board in January but he fails to bring the right quality and we get relegated, then yes - we may then be at that stage. At the moment though the manager and the players need our full support to stop the rot.
As a side note, I do wonder if the recent bereavement is affecting DC's judgement. I lost my father at about his age and it changed me. I didn't realise for about a year or so but I couldn't see situations clearly, and my self-assurance had disappeared. I hope he's not going through a similar thing.

Appreciate your reply and yes I agree we are not at sack the manager yet I was just pointing out an option It is sad the way bereavements effect you and I can understand your comments regarding this at the moment I have an 87 year old father going through dementure and it is affecting the whole family.
we still need a keeper though

Don't believe the bereavement has anything to do with it. The main problem is the constant changes being made. DC still doesn't know his best team.
Sorry to hear about your dad by the way.

Should have got there earlier. You know this scenario is always likely so don't turn up at the last minute then complain.

if you look at the highlights on tele they blame lockyer for the mistake and puddy was trying to make up for his mistake, although puddy put it back into play it was one of those things if a forward misses a wide open goal from 2 ft then scores a blinder later on do you ridicule him all game

Sacking very good managers for what you hope might be a very very good manager is a very poor policy.

The goalkeeping coach of course, at the end of the day DC will ask his opinion before signing any goalkeeper... Time to change some of the backroom staff as well as the players

Rubbish it was an outstanding reaction save, if had gone in nobody would have said Puddy should have done better (well apart from the usual posters) regardless the mistake didn't change the match which was lost after Hartley & Gaffers missed their chances in the first 5 mins, after that Shrewsbury could have scored 5. What DC is planning to do in January will be the big decider if he's given a list of quality players to SH/Wael he wants to sign then talking of sacking him is ridiculous, but if he's given them a list of Hartley/James type players then if I was Wael I would be on the phone to Rowlett's agent! Although that depends on how much DC will have to spend, is all is talk of a low budget an attempt to get more money out of Wael?

What Puddy was up to for the first goal is just incomprehensible. I'd genuinely rather play one of the yoof in goal for Cov and Wombles. DC better have someone lined up for 12.01am on the 1st of Jan.

The cross takes a massive deflection of Sincs, which Lockyer reacts brilliantly to and gets in front of the defender to chest it away from goal. The ball is going safely out for a corner when Puddy decides to lunge at it and claw it back in to play and to the feet of the striker. An absolute heads gone moment from a 'keeper who has shown time and time again that he's nowhere near composed enough for football in the top five divisions.

Go to pull up on the not had a decent keeper since Nigel Martyn line.
If Martyn is the yard stick for decent than no we haven’t, but it’s a bit hard to compare 3rd and 4th division goalies in general to a bloke who became an England International.
I would contend that Steve Phillips was a decent ‘keeper for our level and also Kevin Miller (although he was advancing in age). Not to mention Brian Parkin who replaced Big Nige (pre back pass rule)
Find me a Premier League ‘keeper that doesn’t make a rickett let alone a lower league one. We have had some decent lower league ‘keepers and they have all makde a mistake or two or three, but general performances decent

I`ll never forget the first half an hour at Wembley, when he did everything he could think of to gift Grimsby the game.

Why would you sack a manager who has won back to back promotions and has us top half and then replace him with someone who has had Half a decent season ?. We are in league 1, it will take time to consolidate. Be patient and lets give the staff time.
