This weeks Bid on the Side features Mike Jay's 1987 book the Complete Record.
Mint condition copies of this book don't come available very often and would probably set you back over £100.
Unfortunately, this copy has been written one by original subscriber Eddie White, with comments such as "first game", " went with", Joe blogs last game etc, but also has corrections from the printed details. A brilliant book none the less
Included are several newspaper articles which could raise the price.
The other Bid on the Side item is a small Errea rainjacket in excellent condition.
All profits to the 50/50 fund.

If you haven't got the complete record, I thoroughly recommend it. I have got a mint condition one and wouldn't sell it for a grand.
I know it says that the original owner wrote on it, but I believe he was a 60s/70s version of Mike Jay (ie unofficial club historian) so his amendments probably made it even more factually correct. This is not a slight on Mr Jay but after the Eastville fire a lot of paper work and historical data was lost meaning it was even harded to research, whereas Eddie White had his own historical info.
The complete record is a stats fans wet dream, with lists of top appearances, goals, attendance's, internationals, FA cup final appearances and individual league records for all players before 1920 and in the FL up to 87.
There are also stories galore about the best players, best games and reviews of the different periods.
In short, the best book about the Gas, IMO. Let's hope Mike Jay does an updated complete record soon.
PS Mr Bull's books are also excellent but I am sure he would agree, different. ie one is stats, one is viewpoint.

If it was done in 1987, how can it claim to be the complete record?

Sorry, I have an ancient phone so can't copy and paste and no pc. Also I am not very technical, so would have to type the whole link out manually.
If you go to the BRSC website there is a feature on Bid On the Side with a link.
