" Consolidation was the aim at the start of the season, so why change the plan now?" Said who, DC's spent all season talking about a top 6 finish? But way throw away what was the best chance of a top 6 finish/promotion for decades by not signing a couple of experienced pros, won't that upset the likes of Lines even more than the odd player being paid slightly more wages, most of these players may never get chance to get this chance again. He's said on many occasions that the Championship is a 2-3 season aim, and no, I don't think it would bother the likes of Lines at all. Like most of us, he just wants the club run sustainably. He just wants his pay packet like every employee in the world if they offered to double his salary would he say "what about our sustainability"? No is the answer by the way

Are you suggesting that we sign players who would upset or wage structure then, just to push for another promotion this season?
I'd like another one myself, but only if we can achieve it on the current budget. Because if we fall short, we'll still be paying them fot years to come.
IMO the present squad is capable of achieving it, but it is a big ask.

Surely if Wael/DC wants the club to push for a top 6 finish they need to set a wage structure to achieve that, but if we are hitting the FFP limit then we must have the maximum wage budget V turnover anyway so it seems there's already some v. well paid players in the squad. Although all fans are suggesting is that we sign a couple of experienced Div 1 players not go out and sign Rickie Lambert etc, we will have to eventually sign these players in the summer if we want to seriously challenge for a top 6 spot.

Well we all know that they set a bottom 8 budget, as the FFP rules are based on last season's finances, which is a bit unfair for promoted teams.

Walsall's turnover to Sept 2016 was just short of £6m which I guess is a £1m up on ours but that seems to be down to TV Play Off money. Fleetwood's probably millions more as the owners business is based at their ground plus their the training ground income. www.expressandstar.com/sport/walsall-fc/2016/10/20/walsall-record-staggering-416k-profit/

People equating crowds to revenue is a bit simplistic, and it's why Rovers need new training ground and importantly stadium.

The salary cap at league one level is dynamic and based on current and predicted turnover. So, in short, the Chelsea money is available this season as that would not have been considered.
If we got a cash injection, say sold a player then 60% of that money would be available in wages for the remainder of the year.

Welcome to the Gas Jonny Burn, hope you do very well.
I think after the recent signings and Darrell's comments post match Saturday we are now building for the future. Which on the face of it seems the sensible choice.
Enjoy your evening folk.

Until he says something totally different if we lose on Saturday, as he did after the Shrewsbury game.
I just can't see DC has a 2 or 3 year plan to get us promoted as he seems far to ambitious to just tread water in Div 1 for a couple of seasons. Either more experienced players will arrive next week or in the summer, as only two of these signings are permanent.

Surprised we have not gone again for Richie Towell gets a rare cup run out for Brighton but does not even make the bench for league games.
