It would be great if we had started building those but the fact remains both are still at the planning stage? Of all the commitments the new owners have made, those are the only 2 which aren't completely in their hands. All of the things which are, have been done. Nonsense, there's apparently nothing stopping the training ground now being purchased has planing has been given and a price for the land agreed, it's completely within Wael's hands now.

Is that Richard O'Donnell? When the Post first reported he was surplus to requirements I asked a couple of teds if he was any good. They rated him, saying he is a better shot stopper than Fielding. He is now off on loan to Rotherham. Did we take a look at him? Seems like an opportunity missed. We could have borrowed him until the end of the season. edit: it's Weale, isn't it.

Ironically, our next 3 games are against teams with really good keepers. about 23 of our previous games in Lge 1 seemed to be against teams with Lge 1 standard goalkeepers. Maybe there is a message in there somewhere?

It never ceases to amaze me how much sh*t can be surfaced on this forum out of nothing. DC has said he has the backing of the board to get new players in this window. I read that as "we have some money to spend". Just because we haven't signed a keeper yet, doesn't mean he's lying. Funnily enough, I expect the clubs that own good, experienced keepers and tall commanding centre backs are not that keen on releasing them. I further suspect that any from higher divisions (who are perceived to be better) that may be struggling to get game time are not that keen to step backwards to train and play at our facilities. I'm also sure any that are prepared to step down - for the right money - will be rightly treated with a healthy amount of cynicism by DC. But of course, the easy thing is to believe it's a lack of funds. all very good points. And people need to remember that although we are one the up in general we are still just a mid-table Lge 1 team, with crowds around 9,000, in an awful stadium and with pretty basic training facilities. Us fans might know about PP for new training facilities, and all the UWE stuff, but it means squat to players as they might need a 3+ year contract in order to benefit from it, and DC doesn;t give out those types of contracts. I honestly don't know why people would be against a loan keeper, as long as (stating the bleeding obvious I realise...) he's Lge 1 ability and the long term issue is sorted out in the summer.

This would all be fine if we were trying to replace somebody like Nigel Martin but we're trying to replace Puddy & Roos! I just can't see why DC makes it so hard to sign an average Div 1 goalie. Personally I'm not convinced Gerken is an ideal replacement, as he looks a short goalie compared to the likes of Chapman & Roos.

Topper where does it say, and why do you, have to be a taller goalkeeper the higher up the leagues you play?
