If anyone wants to avoid doing their head in, staying away from this thread for the next half an hour might be the way forward! This cracked me up - I even tried to "like it" twice but that didn't work
UTG, I still believe we are going forward

Worringly DCs comment suggests he will provide good cover - so Puddy still number 1? - not looking forward to Walsall. Hope the new keeper is given a chance Saturday as he must be as good/better than Puddy? Not necessarily signed as competition for Puddy according to DC.

Joke signing ffs and that coming from someone who is very positive about the club, can't really fault Wael, and I love DC to bits. But it's excruciating that we insist on signing dross to play in goal. How hard can it possibly be to permanently sign a keeper who is over 25 with experience of league one or the championship. Unbelievably disappointing I'm afraid, can't understand what it is about this football club and signing goalkeepers, been going on about a decade now with Mildenhall the only half decent one and even he played in the relegation season.

We've signed a 'keeper with Championship experience - I thought that was what everyone wanted! Welcome to Rovers Joe, although to be honest, I rather hope you're not reading this thread.

Im guessing that DC had a specific keeper he wanted to sign and that deal didn't com e off. He did say before the window that he wanted perm signings but we would wait till summer if his targets were unavailable now and get in loan players to cover. So signing a loan keeper would indicate that a new keeper will join now in the summer. Welcome Joe.....and good luck.

Maybe bringing in another one too, surely puddy doesn't needs back up 2 in goal?? I was wondering the same thing too. There doesn't seem much of substance on his Wikipedia page to suggest that he's 'contender for No1' material, and it's fairly obvious (to me, at least) that we need someone with the experience and authority to influence the entire defence. Joe doesn't look to be ticking those boxes. Not right now, anyway. Nonetheless, I can't see him through DC's eyes without wearing DC's head, so I'm reserving judgement. Welcome to Bristol Rovers, Joe!

Why am I not excited! Two players signed not proven at this level. With respect to the lad an experienced goalkeeper was crucial for us to dominate and direct a defence leaking goals, sorry ludicrous decision. I hope I eat my words and the kid is outstanding obviousley I will support him.

I wrote a mammoth new thread earlier then deleted without submitting cos I couldnt be arsed getting into a debate (if anyone read it).
The crux of it was I do worry we are now consolidating for next season when we are only a few points off the playoffs and have a golden opportunity that may not (and probably wont when this run evens itself out) come around for years.
Because, knowing Rovers (new regime or not), I feel 'getting by with what we have', having a clear out in the summer and building for next season may very well see us struggle next year. Why? Gut feeling.
No club keeps their momentum up forever I know. We're still flying, think we'd be foolish to start planning our summer hols already with such an opportunity to push further, cos we all know how quickly fortunes at this club can change.

Possibly one for the future at QPR but will not add the experience and possibly organisation the team desperately needs...but hope I'm wrong and DC has made the right call.
