TBH don't think we have a budget and not sure when and if we will spend cash or DC is out his depth on this one issue and it may take him time to get his head around buying players. Also the facilities we have will no be grabbing players attention - I always wondered how holloway was so good at attracting players... Because everyone else used to have sh** hole grounds too. They've all done theirs up though...... well not like the Mem and most teams had real training grounds.... but true sign that lots of clubs have created a bigger gap

Why can't we just sign somebody with Div 1 experience, or even any league experience, does DC have a phobia about it or something? I know right?! Robbie Ryan had 226 appearances for Millwall when he joined us. Carl Regan came to Rovers from MK Dons. Those are the sort of players we need!

Interesting dilemma for DC tomorrow then - who does he play at CB alongside TL? With Hartley and JCS out injured, and Macca told he won't be considered for first team selection, then I fear we look a bit short of experience and organisation at the back, or does DC go to MM and say - "Hey Mark, you know what I said yesterday, well, I might have been a little hasty......"

Mainly championship apps for RR too if my memory serves me and an FA cup final appearance as well.

How about Mansel, Lines and McChrystal, even Sincs and Taylor had Conference experience. In the summer Hartley and Moore were signed, so it's utter nonsense to say all players with league experience are going to be useless and none of them will sign for us. It's OK having young players as squad fillers but not main stays.

Taken from wikipedia: " Computer game Championship Manager played its part in Ryan's transfer. Utilising real-life statistical data, the game revealed to Ryan Molesworth, the son of Bristol Rovers scout Paul Molesworth, that Robbie Ryan's contract was expiring. Rovers then became interested in signing the player, which after negotiations, actually took place."If that's true then its pretty comical

We signed another centre half for a fee last week

I think that was what he was getting that.. however I do think we could have done with signing someone with more experience myself

A young player highly thought of enough that an established Premier League club signed him only 6 months ago from a club at our level. He will no doubt be a very good player and chances are he will strengthen our defence. It's disappointing we are not signing our own after what Clarke said recently but maybe that's something for the summer when the Stadium situation is known. It's not inconceivable that this player might sign for us permanently in the summer if all goes well, it depends on whether Stoke think he has Premier League potential or not now he's been with then 6 months.

Watching DC operate in the transfer market is strange but I think there are some things that are beginning to show that he does have a kind of "policy." Whatever their experience or age they have to be the right character who will not rock the boat. Of all the players he has brought to the club I can't think of many, if any, who were ever going to rock the boat. Lines came back just when we needed him and came into a much better group of players than the group of players he left in 2011. Him, Hartley, Mansell and Jermaine are the few experienced players that he has brought to the club to play a large part. Liam L came in as cover but has not played much and hasn't rocked the boat. The loans and permanent players such as Leads, James Clarke, Sinclair, Puddy, Bodin, Gaffney are mainly young up and coming players with something to prove. He's also collected a group of players, Taylor, Montano, even James who have perhaps not succeeded at first elsewhere and still had something to prove when they came here. In 2014 he kept players like Milds, Harrison, Macca, Lockyer, Tom P, Ollie C and Lee B who he felt he could work with. He obviously brought in Lee M, a good character and leader. Although not all, most of the players are players who are young, on the way up, or have something to prove and all will have good characters. Supplement this youth with a few more experienced players that he trusts and he has been a successful at moulding an excellent squad where the sum of the parts are greater than the individuals. What he hasn't done is bring in players looking for a final pay day and I don't think he will. When he talks about Championship experience they have to be the right people, at the right price and perhaps he's learning that those players will want a big pay day, something he's not prepared to do. So he might want them but on on the right terms which will be very difficult to achieve. Thankfully he hasn't brought in players like those mentioned in some posts from the past. Players need to have the right attitude and be on the way up. The 3 signed so far in this window are on the way up and are DC-type players and characters. And if we are losing a few of our tried and trusted players then we need to avoid doing what Trolls did when he broke up the 2007 team and replaced them with players more concerned with their wages than BRFC. With DC I don't think that will happen from what has happened so far. That doesn't mean he gets it right all the time and some have not been that good but I can see a kind of logic in what he does and these 3 fit into what he has done to date and I feel pretty confident that he is slowly assembling a squad that gets stronger. UTG!

Went for £250k from Wimbledon in the summer, was highly rated there it seems. Lacks experience though obviously. Be interesting to see who starts of him and Partington tomorrow, you'd imagine Partington. Both
