Money does not bring success it's good management of that money that will. We may or may not been able to go out and buy a player yesterday for 500000 but he may not have been the right player for our team at this time. Darrel Clarke has proved time and time again that he is a good manager so why don't some trust his Judgement. I ask those that have questioned the board on Taylor's transfer what they would have done different to keep him. Would anyone of give him a 5 year deal when we signed him in the conference or even after he had scored 20 goals that season, I think most would answer no. As much as we all wanted him to stay last summer would we have said he would have been this prolific at a higher level again probably not. He had us over a barrel at the end of the season so we had to agree to any release clause. what has watered me off is the snakes attitude in all of this. He has shown a complete disregard for the fans not even by joining that lot but by the lack of a explanation direct to them or a thank you for the support we gave him during his time with us. I know how important his goals have been to us and where we could have been without them but his attitude has made it easy to hate him.

I hope that there will be some form of announcement from the club later this morning about the situation. I even hope that there would be some form of communication from Matty himself during the course of the day.
I definitely feel that the former is needed, if only to cool down some of the reaction that has been apparent since the news broke. That would be GOOD MANAGEMENT and show that the club had their finger on the pulse. As far as the latter is concerned, I do think the MT owes something to the club for his progress and for putting himself in the position to better his career. To do or say nothing to recognise that would be like sticking two fingers up to the club and the whole of the fanbase and can only need to further antagonisation.

Now is the time for DC to select those who he wants to hold onto and extend contracts now, containing NO early release or relegation clauses or similar. Top of the list should be Bodin, possibly Lockyer and O Clarke. We need to learn from the JJOT situation and the events of recent days and look to the future. With the new defenders we should stop the gift goals and we must focus on the Team before us which will not become failures just because someone leaves.

I know how important his goals have been to us and where we could have been without them but his attitude has made it easy to hate him. Damn right. We could have offered him twice as much money and it still wouldn't have bought his loyalty. The board deserve no criticism for the contract in the summer, in my opinion. In an ideal world we would have had the forsight to give him a longer contract after we got promoted from non-league, but on the whole the one year contracts worked for us and kept our squad hungry. We got promoted last year. How much was that worth?
