In other words we can sgin free agents like Liam Lawrence. Keep calm guys, there is a Liam Lawrence out there for everyone! Keep calm? What is there not to be calm about? With or without Taylor we're in the best position we've been in for years, in every regard. There's some right drama queens on here sometimes. Yeah I agree, a lot of people are with overreacting

Given that the transfer window was open for a month, it’s amazing how much business was conducted on the final day and concluded only hours or minutes before the 11.00pm deadline. As far as Rovers were concerned, of course, the big news centred on the departure of striker Matty Taylor to our arch rivals Bristol City and the repercussions of that move will almost certainly reverberate around the club in the weeks and months ahead. However, there are many reasons to remain positive about our season in spite of how supporters might feel about a deal that was concluded which Rovers were powerless to prevent. In the last three years we have been relegated out of the league and then won back to back promotions and currently sit in eighth place just three points off of a play-off place. Also, it’s not as though Taylor was the club’s only striker and so his departure gives any one of Billy Bodin, Rory Gaffney, Ellis Harrison, Luke James, or Jamie Lucas the opportunity to step up to the plate In spite of what our supporters think, a number of efforts were made to bring players in before the window closed, but it should be remembered that manager Darrell Clarke did bring in four players in January and didn’t leave everything until the last minute. The first of the quartet to arrive was defender Joe Partington, from Eastleigh, in a permanent move for an undisclosed fee and his arrival was quickly followed by goalkeeper Joe Lumley, on loan from Queens Park Rangers. Stoke City defender Ryan Sweeney then arrived on loan, and he was followed by Middlesbrough defender Jonny Burn arriving in a permanent deal. Although the window has now closed, clubs are still able to sign players who are free agents. One piece of news that escaped attention was the departure of midfielder Liam Lawrence. The former Republic of Ireland international, who scored once in 16 league games for the club, has had his contract cancelled by mutual agreement and is now a free agent. We wish him well for the future. City need to be played at their own game in the media comms department with all their #welcometoBristol sh1t. This article should read "the big news centred on the departure of striker Matty Taylor to struggling Championship side Bristol City". Keep it subtle. Leave all that "arch rival" bullsh1t for the Evil post.

... I am hoping now for league survival and ambition shown from owners. Other clubs with far less support and facilties identify targets and I expect us to do the same. We're only 3 points off the play-offs.

I believe the Metro and a few other ‘digital news outlets’ picked up on it but for the most part I think ordinary folk look at it and see it for what it is; churlish and puerile. To me it really smacks of insecurity and must irk them no end that despite being above us in the league for 20-odd years, despite having had a billionaire owner since 1996, despite having forked out what by now must be close to a hundred million pounds on players and wages, despite the redeveloped ground, that despite the signing of a player who is arguably our best ever goalscorer just because they can, and that despite everything they just can’t get people to stop talking about little old ragbag Rovers, least of all themselves. Let’s not forget that things are improving all the time at Rovers. Before yesterday things were pretty rosy and I think that had Taylor gone anywhere else we wouldn’t be half as despondent as we are, but at the end of the day does it really affect anything other than our egos that he’s gone where he’s gone? Keep those heads held high and remember that it’s been far, far worse than this and we’ve survived, and not only survived but flourished. Believe in DC and what he’s trying to achieve here, long term and short term, and remember that no one player is bigger than a football club, least of all one as excellent as ours.

if you wrote a list of the 4 things you wanted this season it would be:
1) Agree a deal on the UWE
2) Purchase our own training ground
3) Survive in Div 1
4) Retain MT services for another season
In my view the first 3 (I'm not sure about the correct order) are the most important, the last one would have been nice but not as bad as losing any of the first 3.

You're right of course. Well, as that famous saying goes, “even a broken wrist watch tells the right time once and then once again 12 hours later, unless it’s a digital one in which case it’s f*cked.” I think that’s how it goes anyway.

Just think of the wages we've freed up, we can bring in a washed up Prem striker BUT, how much did we have to pay him to rip up his Contract?
I'd be amazed if agreed to cancel his Contract without recompense for the unexpired portion of the Contract.

Strange, The Statement has been pulled from the website ? Not surprised. It was a rambling mess. In times like these you put out very very well crafted, and short, pieces, full of grovelling.

It's usually a percentage of a contract. and remember, bonuses are a huge part of payments these days so if you aren't playing you're just getting basic wage. Go elsewhere and you might get a wage and bonuses.
