Starting off with interviews with Tom Lockyer and Marcus Stewart.
Interestingly, every interview I've heard recently with team and club management, everyone mentions getting out of this league. Seems we ARE going for it this season.
Marcus expecting Luke James to be able to replace Taylor, bags of potential. Needs to learn how to become a goalscorer, knows he will score goals not thinks.
Gone onto City now, Hamer in PT2.

Discussing last year. Fastest year of his life. Remarkable year - magical mystery tour. Achieved a lot but the fans can't necessarily see it, training ground going to set the club up.
Never thought we'd get promoted after dropping to tenth. Thought we might get into the playoffs. Shock to everyone, better to acquire club in close season to allow proper planning for this sort of thing. Plans had to change quite a lot. Big change for Darrell.
Financial position is extremely healthy. Solvent, no debts. A great deal more secure. Accounts won't reflect this as debt needs to be written off.

Al Qadi family very private and don't want to be in the limelight regards their finances.
Need to decide if team/training ground / stadium is most important.
Needed to invest in the Mem as the previous board didn't think they needed to as we'd need to move.
Mentioned being at the memorial ground in discussion on these changes for another 18 months or so. No direct reference to use here.

Chatting about Matty Taylor.
Not worried about losing him as Darrell sets us up to score goals. Gives Luke a chance, good luck to him, Ellis and Billy playing well too.
Had to pick up remnants of the previous' board decision to give Matty a short contract in the first place.
If subject to an insider trade then it would be a serious issue. Investigating it seriously. Football needs to fight back against this sort of thing.

Yeah I was hoping it would be further along than that. I think it's because we're obviously desperate for this to progress owing to how long we've been waiting for this. He seemed bouyant saying that and I guess there's an element of him being diplomatic with it and seeking not to swell expectations. If they hadn't have asked the 'big question' I'd have been very buoyed by his comments on the summer investment in the Mem though as he seemed to be suggesting we're working to 18 months further at the Mem. |

Wael said previously it would be a 2 year build so 18 months would be going some but could be possible. Be great if that was the case. With regards the 8/10, I think SH is being guarded after the previous plane analogy. In private it could be higher. I can only go by the interviews but I wonder if an agreement has been reached in principle with the main UWE people but it needs formalising with others, hence the delays in any announcement. |
