In betting terms he's saying UWE is 5 to 1 on it happening and that seems encouraging. Surely 8/10 equates to 5 to 4? A lot closer at lest! 4/5

I managed to watch it on the 10pm airing in the end. On the whole it was very encouraging.
I was intruiged by his comment that "no one asks the vendor these questions". Seemed to me that means the ball is in their (uwe's) court.
It could also mean SH would like the media to put some pressure on the uwe as that might help force the issue through.

I'm amazed that I can read, that a senior club official can in all seriousness state that the club is in "an extremely healthy financial position" . In my 43 years of supporting the club i never heard those words and never expected to.

Converting Probability to Odds: First express the probability as a fraction with the numerator equal to the number of successes and the denominator equal to the total. Subtract the numerator from the denominator to find the number of failures. Then you have the two numbers needed to express odds. The probability of winning (ie getting UWE) is 8/10. Since 10 – 8 = 2, we take 2 as the number of unsuccessful events. Thus, the odds 8: 2 or 4:1 on. See: www.had2know.com/academics/calculate-odds-probability.html

I think most of are realists, but dreamers too. I think we could all see that the club was in a fragile position but I get the impression that the whole package was much worse and it's taken a lot of sorting and a lot of cash to do it. A bit like wondering why it's taking so long to build a house, without appreciating ground clearance levelling, foundations and all the preparatory stuff before the first brick is laid. I think we're only just beginning to see the first concrete going in. Loads of stuff has been happening that we can't fully appreciate.

Well the ask the vendor issue has been raised on gaschat .Maybe if UWE were being asked by the press WHY they are taking so long ,WHY a financial deal has not been reached.WHY it appears they are asking inflated prices ?
It will give them the opportunity to answer people ,but also makes the deal making fairer as both sides are then under public scrutiny. Over to the local media......why have you not pursued this ? are you really reporters ?

I've messaged Mcnamara and asked why no questions to UWE about the stadium...see if he replies.

It's a stakeholder thing.
We are stakeholders to the club and we really want a new stadium and we want it yesterday.
UWEs stakeholders are past, present and future students and regulatory bodies. Whilst that may cross over into rovers fan base to some extent, where some of us work or study there, their priorities are making sure they're providing value for money on student fees.
The heat points from the public are upfront from our perspective but from UWEs perspective they're on the reverse side on the outcome of the deal. Once a deal is completed on they are up for a great deal of bad PR if they don't get the best deal possible to feed back into education. So they need to take their time and get it right. It would be unreasonable, taking your gashead head off for a moment, to expect them to do anything else. That is unless they are being stubborn over an unrealistic valuation.
Let's put it this way, as a taxpayer, I would be pretty annoyed to hear of a University 'giving away' land on the cheap to any old sports club. And with it being Rovers I have to look at things with a bit of balance. And that is without a great deal of love for UWE.

Yeah I was hoping it would be further along than that. I think it's because we're obviously desperate for this to progress owing to how long we've been waiting for this. He seemed bouyant saying that and I guess there's an element of him being diplomatic with it and seeking not to swell expectations. If they hadn't have asked the 'big question' I'd have been very buoyed by his comments on the summer investment in the Mem though as he seemed to be suggesting we're working to 18 months further at the Mem. Wael said previously it would be a 2 year build so 18 months would be going some but could be possible. Be great if that was the case. With regards the 8/10, I think SH is being guarded after the previous plane analogy. In private it could be higher. I can only go by the interviews but I wonder if an agreement has been reached in principle with the main UWE people but it needs formalising with others, hence the delays in any announcement. Was that the Q&A in October time? I think he mentioned 2 seasons. Back in the Higgs era it was a 62 week build which would tally with an 18 month timeframe. By my calcs, to have it ready based on that in time for 2018-19 we would need to start work by the end of May. If that's right, we'd better hope they can reach agreement and complete in the next 2 months
