5 wins out of 5 can't argue with that, have a look at the teams they've beaten though: Dover 18 th Southport 15th Welling 23rd Chester 17th
none of the above teams are fancied to do well this season.OK they beat Lincoln today, who have started well but they were level at 2-2 when the Imps had a man sent off and only won it late on.They could be sh** hot of course and stuff us,but I don't think we have to fear them at all going by who they've played and it would be a massive boost to a side that is already gaining in confidence if we could turn them over next weekend.I just hope that we don't get suckered into thinking we don't need a midfield creator because of 2 decent results because we clearly are lacking in that dept but with a better service I honestly believe we have enough in our forward line to score the goals to get us up the right end of the table.Come on Higgsy, stick to what you said and get another signing or two through the door this week and speculate to accumulate!!

Grimsby scored 7 to-day but didn't find the net once against us. Telford scored 3 to-day but nought against us..If only our strikers could actually score I'd feel a lot more confident.

Agree 100% with MC Chisel. It is very important that todays MUCH improved performance does not affect two further signings. I think the squad is building nicely and that this could still be a very good season. One thing is certain is that we need fear no one, respect them yes but not fear.

Think the way the fixtures have panned out have actually done us a favour. Playing four of the fancied sides in our first six games ensured we got the dose of reality in early although with Grimsby, Barnet, FGR and Halifax to start with it is a surprise that it was Alty that delivered the main wake up call. Imagine if we'd got Halifax's first four fixtures we could have been lulled into a false sense of security thinking that a paper thin squad of 16 was going to be sufficient to get us in the top 5. We could have had 12 points after four games and still 12 points after 14 games! So starting slowly, addressing the squad shortcomings and gradually build momentum might turn out to be the ideal blueprint for the season.

Steve I watched the game on TV and from what I saw there was definitely no difference in the teams, you wouldn't have known they were 2nd. I would like to see another midfielder come in as when they got in the ascendancy I felt we needed someone centrally in there to break up their play. As you rightly say Darrell is slowly building a decent squad and I am sure we will be at the right end of the table come May.

1,490 posts Posted Today, 06:03 PM I think we're still #NowtSpecial and we'll finish 11th justly. Take today's performance for example, narrow win against weak, weak, weak opposition. In the meantime Bristol Rovers are really getting the motor running with an impressive 1-1 draw away to Forest Green, meaning it will be just a matter of time until they leap-frog us in their totally expected waltz to the title. We are so average it's unbelievable.

Halifax fans are understandably confident after their impressive start but they've played some of the weaker teams, as has been mentioned. We've had a very tough start and after a poor opening week we've shown signs of progression this Bank Holiday weekend. I said all along that we have the makings of a decent team but needed to score first in a game to really settle down and play with confidence.
Ideally it would be good to have another man on board before Saturday if at all possible, whether that be someone with pace on the right hand side or someone more central, but I certainly won't be worried if we don't.
