Was it Gaffney or Montana offside and was it a penalty. I thought it was a penalty and could not see the offside however it is difficulte to tell behind the goal.

As DC said, I think both decisions were right. Maybe should have booked gaffers for diving but don't think it was a pen. Brilliant game though.

Not a penalty. But the ginger thing should have buried that chance. Dreadful attempt. Reminded me of Twatty Taylor

Offside? Yes....view straight across from the open end of Dribuild Terrace.

To be honest fella I don't think gaffers had the chance for the one on one as their keepers professional foul took him out , now whether it was outside the 18 yard box was debatable as I was stood at the front of the blackthorn but what was apparent was that the ref was right behind it and looked to his line who done f**k all , red bottled it and obviously had a wager on the blades going up 😉😉😉

I thought the officials had a good game.

I thought the officials had a good game. The highlights show it was a clear dive much the same as their bloke earlier; a good game of football with two sides trying to win it. Tells a bit of a tale mind you when they bring a defender on towards the end, countering our two wingers. All in all a decent point against the top of the table

I agree, I didn't think it was a pen, Bodin put Gaffney clean through, Gaffney took too long dwindling on the ball, realised he f**ked up his chance then looked for the pen.

From the blackthorn side of the dribuild it looked like the most stonewall penalty I have ever seen. Gafney went to go round (ALL our strikers under current regime do this) to the left of keeper and it looked like he was taken straight out by their keeper.
I was disgusted at the crowds treatment of gafney. He didn't have a great game but I don't approve of this moaning and hollering when he makes a mistake.
I saw him do quite inventive things trying to hold the ball up. He held it up better than Harrison who is like greased lightening in the box but seems to move in slow motion outside it. It's the hardest job In football to hold the ball up. He was also placed left wing when defending which was odd but I assume DC thinks he has more pace than Harrison. All of our strikers take time. Gafney isn't a poacher anyway, he does other good work for the team. He isn't by any means proven yet but whatever the view, moaning at the guy while he gives his all (he isn't lazy is he) is grossly unfair and 82-like. He seems fit as a flea and I bet he works hard in training all week only to have fans whinge on. I only agree with whinging and ridicule for lazy money men players or those who don't work. Put a shift in and it's the managers job to decide if you are good enough, moaning at a guy who's clearly trying very hard for you is ignorant and stupid, and vindictive. This isn't me saying he's brilliant, just that I would cheer a man with one leg in the quarters so long as he was out of breath, covered in mud and trying to track back with their winger. So long as he was trying, I couldn't care what else he offers - THATs for the pub.
So want gaffers to get a couple soon. I think he can. These games are against the best teams we've played for years. We are not Barcelona. Give all our strikers a chance.

Agreed He is not the best striker the world has ever seen and ive got to say it did seem like he panicked when he was through on goal, but he didn't half put a shift in. When we get players that are lazy but talented people moan and when we get players that give their all but aren't gonna break any records people moan. So all we need to keep people happy is someone who runs around, gets stuck, tackles back, gives 100% and scores 30 a season.... shouldn't be too hard to find! UTG

Looking at the replay I don't think the goalkeeper touched the ball. Having said that he then took Gaffney down. What else constitutes a penalty?

Could Lumley have picked up that ball from the throw-in? Not sure of the rule.

Could Lumley have picked up that ball from the throw-in? Not sure of the rule. No, just looked it up. I was surprised by this. You'd have thought we might have noticed at some point in the last 20 years. "In 1997, the back-pass rule was extended to prevent goalkeepers handling the ball when received directly from a team-mate's throw in." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back-pass_rule

Just to make a couple of points, firstly it was never a penalty because the foul ,if there was one occurred outside of the penalty area and secondly the theatrical way that Gaffney went down made it easy for the officials to reject any claim for a foul, which having seen it a number of times was doubtfull to say the least

You do talk anti Rovers/DC nonsense sometimes, how can you say that's not a foul and Gaffney went down theatrical is beyond me, if somebody chops you down when you are running at full speed how else are you going to fall? The fact Gaffney got straight back up suggests he wasn't looking for the foul, but why would he go down anyway as he was virtually certain to score if he'd made it past the goalie as he would have had an empty net to shoot into.

Empty nets do not always result in a goal. Surely you know that?
