The 40 men in our squad and what will/has happen(ed) to them and a few kids who may get a chance
First of all: I know its long, I don’t expect you to read it all but it goes with out saying if you want to I hope you enjoy.
Secondly: I have no insider knowledge, I am a fan and spectator and one who looks up and reads as much as possible about the gas like a crack addict trying to get a hit. This leads me to have both opinions and all the knowledge that is public.
Thirdly: all of this is conjecture, im bound to be wrong on some and right on others. if any of you have information on contract lengths please enlighten me.
Fourth: the younger players added at the bottom are just players who have played for u23s team or scored a lot in the u18s. I don’t know jack about them other than a few I deduced their positions by different means. If you have any info It would be interesting to learn a bit more about the future lineses or clarkes
Lastly: this is a debate, think I got something wrong, tell me. call out some mistakes or add your opinion but don’t take it to Christian grey levels.
Mildenhall – not really sure, depends on who we bring in the summer, not getting any younger, probably leaving. I know he runs a GK coaching club with puddy and with the expansion of the clubs academy and the genesis of an u23s team he could well be offered a coaching role – 10% chance of being here next season
Puddy – told to leave/find new club, assumed end of contract in june – 0%
Hodges – may or may not be offered a professional contract at the end of the season, never seen him play so I cant make a judgement – no idea so no prediction
Roos – was poor, has gone back to derby - gone
Lumley – looks fantastic, shame its on loan so will be gone at the end of the season, ollie may give us another year but if we sign someone he wouldn’t want to be on loan and be second choice – unlikely 10% chance
Leadbitter – brilliantly fast full back, has healthy competition from Clarke and partington hopefully he stays, I assume he has another year left after this one but not 100% sure could also be a target from other teams – 70% chance of staying
Lyttle - told to leave/find new club, assumed end of contract in june – 0%
J. Clarke – last summer the Bristol post seemed to think he may go as he lives a way away and hasn’t played much despite other injuries, looks good enough to be here as rotation but partington and burn may keep him out and force him to reconsider – 30% chance of staying
Partington – just signed, unfortunately got injured vs port vale I expect he will stay and assume he has a contract for next year. Looks solid from what ive seen and is a down to earth person who seems fully committed and grateful for his chance in the league again – 75% chance of staying
Roberts – rarely played, looked good but Swansea wanted him back (I don’t blame them) - gone
Burn – new signing, unlucky that Sweeney and locks have been on cracking form, again I expect he will stay and assume he has a contract for next year. will be interested to see how he progresses at what is essentially his first full time contract at a team he is a first teamer with – 75% chance of staying
Hartley – seems to have gone under the radar that since the day he got injured we have kept 5 or 6 clean sheets in a short space of time, when before we were conceding for fun. However he is our 4th top scorer and has alot of good things in his game. no Idea about contracts and no idea what will happen to him next year – 50/50 chance of staying
Macca – wish I didn’t have to type this but told to leave/find new club, assumed end of contract in june, like mildy the expansion of the clubs academy and the genesis of an u23s team means he could well be offered a coaching role – 0%
Kilgour – the youngest of the younger players recently turned 19 (I think), no idea of quality, I have to admit the GFA cup game that was streamed I was looking forward to seeing him in action before he was taken of, assume his pro contract runs into next season – 80% chance of staying
Lockyer – if memory serves me right the captain of our club has a contract for next season, many saying he is still adapting to this level which I agree with, in many ways I see his struggles as a deterant to other clubs which is good as I rate him and is the best youth graduate since lines and seems to love the club. – 90% chance of staying
JCS – Cracking little player, hope he makes it at Chelsea (he 100% wont as Chelsea counldnt give a flying ______). Shame he got injured during his time with us but at Chelsea he will have the best medical staff going, seems a nice kid so 100% will follow his progress and support him - will go
Sweeney – like JCS he is a wonderful addition to our squad and also like JCS is unfortunately a loan signing, seems knowledgeable and down to earth as he came through at a team at our level. Sad to say he will go, but DC will surely be talking to stoke for an extension – 5% chance of being here next year
Brown – like lockyer I think he has a contract for next year, mr consistency sent us up and will stay here next year as first choice LB, undoubtedly will be watched by other clubs so can never say 100% - 90% chance of staying
Greenslade – “highly rated full back” according to the Gloucester post when he signed on loan at GCFC. Seems unlucky not to get a chance and seems more unfortunate now harris has signed. 2 schools of thought are 1) BH was signed so DG could go out an learn without leaving us short and Darrell wants him as second choice next year or 2) BH is 2nd choice next year and DG should be talking to his agent – no idea but i think he is 22 now so must push on or go
Harris – seems sensible to sign an experienced 2nd choice FB, disaster debut but I refuse to judge him after one game (bet woodgate wishes real madrid fans did the same) as said above not sure whats in DCs mind regarding the LB back up but i think he is only contracted til june– no idea
Thomas – my brother says he is rubbish having played with him at yate town but he supports Liverpool so I can’t trust his judgement, I believe he is on a NC so could go tomorrow could go in 10 years time, more likely sooner – 10% chance of staying, 0% chance of playing
Malpas - told to leave/find new club, assumed end of contract in june, good luck to him at mangotsfield on loan – 0%
Lines – he is one of our own, and still will be next year, one of the only players I would feel confident saying 100% likely to stay. Short but sweet and all that is needed - legend
Lawrence - told to leave/find new club and that he did – gone
Colkett – gone to Swindon and good luck to the lad, talented player and that touch at MK will always be remembered – gone
Boateng – his name always autocorrects to boating and I am assuming it means canal boating which is the appropriate speed for the lad, looked poor vs Northampton and I can only imagine DC felt justified that day – gone
Mansell – this one is a confusing one, he hasn’t played much and is probably a level too high for himself, but when he has played he looks okay, DC says there is no sentiment but mansells exclusion from the “water off we don’t want you anymore” list suggests otherwise. Genuinely nice and funny bloke, fantastic footballer, gas legend and a good looking chap – hope he stays but not sure he will – 30% chance of staying
O. Clarke – getting better and better and better. Been in the first team 7 years now and I think he was lucky we got relegated and everyone in front of him left but to succeed you need luck and he is now probably our best all round CM, probably has a contract for next year and even if not DC will no doubt offer him a wage hike to adjust to his ever improving talent – 95% chance of staying
Sinclair – fear the beard, pretty sure I read that he has a deal beyond june this year so I expect he will stay. Seems to be viewed as unfashionable buy non gasheads but that is fine because no interest means he stays – happy days – 70% chance of staying
Broom – when I saw him vs Birmingham September 2015 he looked busy, I wasn’t sure if he was a right winger or a left back, he was everywhere. Every academy and U23 game I see highlights of everything goes through him. Cant see him going but cant be certain – 75% chance of staying
Bodin – pray to god no other team comes in for him, but I have faith in mr pres to stump up a lot of money to keep him. Fantastic player, I assume he is contracted for longer than just this year and I think he will stay as long as nobody big comes in – 70% chance of staying
Gosling – seems to be gone, his FGR interview saw him use past tense when referring to his BRFC career and I think that sums it up. Heard he is out of contract in june. Could make a massive statement if he does well so wont say 0% but its v unlikely – 5% chance of staying
Montano – fast, good crosser, better than moore. Pretty concise review of the Colombian. No idea what will happen, will mostly I assume depend on what formation DC wants to use next year - 50/50 no idea
Moore – slow, mistake prone, not as good as montano. Seems like a DC player though which could save him. Not played as much as a footballer would want to and I think on balance I can see him leaving – 30% chance of staying
Taylor – gone
Easter - told to leave/find new club, rumoured he has the same agent as the snake and is being refused game time. – 0%
James – on loan, not seen much of him but unlikely we will be enquiring about his status next year. Has 3 months to prove himself but i don’t think he will be back. Although he does have a whiff of the sincs about him which makes him likable – going at end of season
Harrison – love him or hate him he is clearly talented when firing on all cylinders, probably better than the snake if he was always on peak form but he isn’t. likely to be given another season due to the snake leaving, easter on his way out, lucas being young, james only being on loan and Gaffney being out of contract – 80% chance of staying
Lucas – 2 months ago I thought he would be on the “please leave” list in January due to his lack of goals in the conference at boreham wood. However he has made the bench since the list was announced and the squad considerably compacted. Id give him a chance as we have only scored 2 goals in 4 games recently. Reality is I have no idea about next season – 50/50
Gaffney – I believe (cant be certain) the ginger assassin signed an 18 month deal in janaury 2016 (you do the maths). DC needs more from him if he is to make the cut next season as he doesn’t have the safety net of a contract next year. 30% at the moment, 70% chance if he scores a few before may.
Ellington/spruce – as stated with Harrison (due to the snake leaving, easter on his way out, lucas being young, james only being on loan and Gaffney being out of contract) there is likely to be a gap in our front line and every academy game that I read about one of them scores. Could be given a contract next year but that’s all conjecture.
