20K people at £100/head is only £2m. That's not gonna make the UWE happen? It's a good start Kevin, That is just a figure plucked out if the air. Personally, if asked, I would certainly stick a grand in. I bet there are more like me. Plus, if S/Glos did ask it's residents if those that wished, put in a one off payment, we would be well on the way. It's out there I know but crazier things have happened. I would match your £1000 KP.

Isn't this pledging of money basically 'buy a brick' without the brick?
So, for a novel idea, why not canvass the fans for interest into "Buying a brick/section of bricks"?! It could be done without commitment to see where we are at to start with.

Roll up roll up. We need 10,000 to put in a grand and we could buy the club. Hey, I know it's a long shot and way out there BUT you have to think big to be big.

So we're looking at crowd funding now? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CrowdfundingThere must be someone out there with the money (& Ego) who would build it. I was only reading yesterday about the bloke who owns Salford rugby league club. He's looking at buying a club in Australia (pretty cheap I'd imagine). If only he was interested in football.

Nick Higgs said we owe that amount mortgage wise at the EGM and also in an interview. I remember the innitiial mem 50% was £2m as a former club sectetary from twerton era (whose name escapes me) used to work with my Dad and gave us lots of insider info at the time. (I was only 15 the !!!) The mortgage length is an assumption based on the normal length of such a mortgage and the amount already paid. Wasn't half of the cost of the Mem covered by private investors and the other half by the bank?

I notice the pledges have dried up. So we have 3K right? Hmmm so only another £3,997,000 to get to a strong bargaining position!

Crowdfunding could work. Especially if we pull on their heartstrings regarding our history - I.e. Eastville, the UWE shambles to date etc
Kickstarter anyone?

All i know is we have been at the mem for 17 years, still owe £900000 in mortgage payments and the mem cost £2m .

It could be done without commitment to see where we are at to start with. Good idea. I fear we may need more of a 'buy a large steel girder' scheme but I guess if we can get commitment for a million or so and maybe if we can cut certain things out of the budget it might make financing the stadium a more attractive proposition to an outside investor ( the council maybe?)
