I think he'd be a cracking bench option for the last fifteen minutes.

Normally I say no to the Cureton question but at this moment in time yes I would sign him until end of season. He wouldn't be dear and wouldn't be a gamble because our strikers aren't scoring anyway. Is he free ?

I think he'd be a cracking bench option for the last fifteen minutes. But we were saying that 3 years ago? 4 goals in 5 games for St.Albans in the conference south, but surely if he was a cracking bench option at this level, he'd still be at Eastleigh as they have a massive squad. A big fat 'Nooooo' from me!

Doesn't anybody we sign ideally also want to be a possible option for next season as well, rather than just a desperation signing like Cureton?

I would say yes to Cureton, but keep him waiting for a couple of weeks then say we changed our minds. Works both ways.

In my opinion the days of us doing desperation signings are behind us. With Mr Al Qadi, Hamer and Clarke we methodically do things, of course this will not always meet with everyone's approval at times but it's the right way to make steady progress we remain in control of.

You know how clubs sometimes buy a player and then loan him back to the selling club 'til the end of the season....!

Not that I think we'd do this but could you agree with a club to release a player from his contract (pay them to pay him up so he becomes a free agent)?

A big fat 'Nooooo' from me! Left Eastleigh immediately after Martin Allen took over, and that wasn't coincidental. Cureton would bring a wealth of experience with him and Gaffney, Harrison, James and Lucas would all benefit hugely from training with a model pro like Jamie.

What's worse is that the B Post will run a story tomorrow based on this thread saying Gasheads are calling for JC's return!!
Jay Boothroyd could be an interesting signing although it looks like from his twitter account he's due to return to the Jap league shortly where he scored 32 goals in 49 games last season!

Surely people calling for Cureton are having a laugh? I'm not sure anyone is calling for Cureton. Someone asked the question (tongue in cheek I imagine) and a few of us responded. I see certain benefits to having someone like Jamie Cureton at the club, the fact that he could do 10 minutes here or there would be a bonus.

It's strange only two "unattached" players have joined clubs in February, you would have thought with the loan windows being closed more clubs would find themselves struggling for the odd player like Rovers.
