Cureton would be a massive step backwards at this stage and would add nothing at all as his career has effectively come to a close certainly as a League player and I certainly would not want us to be handing him a pay off after the number of times he has messed us around and always gone for the best financial deal. I prefer to remember him as he was first time around here- an excellent goalscorer but that was twenty years ago!!!
I'm sure he would have finished that Harrison chance on Tuesday.
Could be the difference short-term but I can understand arguments against taking him on.
He wouldn't have had the pace to win the ball in the first place like Harrison did! It's not just about the finishing, you need to be able to get in the positions in the first place. There is a reason, no league clubs want him anymore.

According to his Twitter page he lives in Nottingham and Bristol...if he has a place in Bristol then this might increase the possibility that it's Hoskins. If he's fit and relatively injury free at the moment then would be a good option for the rest of the season.

I have to say I thought Hoskins was great when he was here last time, great attitude in a team that has lost its way, that was a good few years ago though and wasn't he a bit injury prone even then? Could be just what we need if fit though. If we can't sign Lumley, can we get Mikkel Andersen back too??

Don't think he's no where near the player he was.

Don't think he's no where near the player he was. You're probably right, like I said, it was a good few years back and I can't say I really followed his career much after he left. In his prime he would be exactly the kind of player who could push us into the playoffs though. We've had a really hard patch of games, on paper (I'm cringing even as I write this) the remaining games are in the main more winnable.

I haven't seen Cureton play in a long time I was purely talking about finishing but maybe one of the other chances that were popping up in the box he would put away. Im in the 'sort it out in the summer" camp, nothing to lose bringing someone else in but Taylor has really *ed us over with the timing of his departure.

Maybe with all these terrible suggestions of past players/linked players, we can finally get a Work Permit for Nigel Pierre?!

Surely anyone available now will either be too old, injury prone, or both.

I'm the same age as Aaron Wilbraham and he's still scoring in the Championship. I'll get my boots..

I still believe DC should have gone all out to get a good striker from Jan 1st.
We still needed one when we had Taylor, none of the other strikers were scoring and haven't since.

I think we didn't need one on the 1st... We were banging goals in for fun, but I dont think MT was the soul reason we have struggled since. He only scored 4 in his last 19 for us (off the top of my head)
We probably should of had a back up plan incase MT did leave, though.

The love in with former past it players continues! Our club has moved on, pity some on here can't. Hi bidefordgas, How's the weather in the Little White Town? It's lovely over here in Barnstaple. The fact is this entire thread is nothing but speculation. There's little point speculating over the signings of the likes of Hoskins and Cureton - but there's even less point speculating over players none of us have ever heard of! So of course the focus is going to be on the players that have played for us previously, it's far easier that way. Moreover, I don't think anyone has genuinely called for DC to re-sign anyone in particular so, to put it a little bluntly, I'm struggling to understand why you're choosing to be such a miserable old git about it. Regards, Wiaww

Personally I would have still been looking for a striker as Gaffney Harrison and James never looked like scoring, you could say Bodins goals gave us two regular goalscorers but as he is a winger a decent striker would have given us 3 and surely a push towards the play offs (which we were never cemented in with Taylor anyway).
Shame the defence got sorted just as the strikeforce weakened. Oh well maybe James will step up a after a good display on Tuesday.

I've seen MT score off the post and crossbar but never off the top of your head. Presumably you stand close to the 6-yard box.
