I love the way this squad of players continues to improve. Last year's 4 promoted clubs are Northampton, Oxford, Gas, Wimbledon.

Dominant. 14 scored only 3 conceded. What makes it better is the muppets on the oxford forum all claimed they were the best team in league 2 last season. Lost all 5 games.

Thanks 2nd for the research. Think it shows that DC is a very good manager. And if you had compared our record against Barnet last season it would be similar. I am sure DC does build for the future and not just for the season but all he's really worried about is finishing the season strongly as high as possible. Then he starts again the next Summer, building on the good parts of the previous season. Even in 2014 he realised he had some gems in the squad and built on those players, Milds, Macca, Tom Parkes, Lee B and other younger players like Tom L, Ollie C and brought in Leads, SS and Monkhouse. He did the same in 2015 and 2016 and probably will this year so that next season we will be stronger. Good thread idea. UTG!

Thing is people need to realise as a manager dc is on a steep learning curve he's come from a non league background as a manager and each level he goes up he has to adapt he played at league 1 level but the standard has gone up since then and he's had to adjust to that. I think he's done Chuffing well

DC's management has been nothing short of miraculous. Learning, adapting, analysing, inproving at every opportunity. That's why he is without doubt our greatest manager. I can't think of anyone who would have done what he has, from oblivion to within touching distance of the sh*t. This must be his next target, it probably is his only true target.
We are so lucky to have him and more importantly warrant his loyalty. Amazing man, truly a legend.

I'm gonna cry like a baby the day DC leaves this club.
True story.

This looks cute, but it's not about mini tables but the one after 46 games. Also I'm not sure if we compare our results with those teams who were promoted with us means we are going to get promoted from L1 in the future , i.e. Wimbledon, Northampton are very unlikely to challenge at the top of L1 as they are (financially at the moment).

I think you have a fair point. There are plenty of ways to measure progress, but the fact is that all the promoted teams are pretty competitive in this league. It also shows that DC is pretty good at working out teams over a period of time. The thing that stood out for me more than anything was that if Oxford had our results in the mini-league they would be pushing for automatic promotion with games in hand.

I can't see the OP is suggesting we will got promoted but it's a good bench mark to measure our progress. I'm not even sure getting promotion this season will really do us any favours, probably DC's target this season is to just have a good attempt at reaching the Play Offs.
