Phil brown must feel humiliated after his pre match surmises
He set his team up to kick sh** out of us and after 1 min Billy took all the wind out of his sails
2 subs at 35mins says it all
Not sure it's all about his players, 2nd half they brought it, I think he needs to have a good look in the mirror and think did he take us too lightly initially ?
Unlucky mate, come to the Mem with that mindset at your peril . UTG

29mins in, they said they were still waiting for Phil Brown, who was having a staff meeting on the pitch...no again Phil! Not again!
From 40mins is also a good listen? Talking about the game.

Southend were a bunch of thugs. The referee made some laughable decisions and let them get away with it.
That fat stump Cox could have got sent off 3 times today, although I will always smile at how he took a months wages off the 5hit when they signed him on loan from Reading and then didn't play because he was unfit/injured!
One of Clitterells finest moves that.

I was happy when Fortune was taken off as I thought he looked quite bright. Not sure why he blamed him & Atkinson but hey ho great that we can make a half decent side look so unprepared!

Not exactly inspirational. Announcing that some of his players are frightened of promotion. Managers like this only reinforce how lucky we are to have DC.

What an an idiot. Still underestimating us after we've beaten his team thoroughly.
I thought Southend were a pretty good side and threatened us quite a bit. When it came down to it though we've been a brilliant team recently and put in another great shift.
Sounds like an attempt at man management but I'd much rather Darrells style than Phil's tough love.

Total cock. I thought they looked decent if a bit dirty, definitely contenders, and gave us a proper game in 2nd half, can't believe he doesn't think they are still in it

Blues boss Phil Brown gave a damning assessment of his side following Southend’s 2-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers yesterday afternoon.
Billy Bodin’s first minute strike followed by an almost identical goal scored by Rory Gaffney just after half an hour was enough to beat a lacklustre Blues side.
And following the defeat, Brown had strong words to say about his players and their performance.
“I was disgusted in my team in the first half to tell you the truth,” said the Blues boss.
“We approached the game in a professional manner and yet in the first half, after a minute we’re a goal down, after five minutes we could have been two of three down.
“I thought you’d seen an honest performance from the opposition and I thought you saw a dishonest performance from my team and that dishonesty I’ve got to iron out of the DNA of the changing room.
“Whether I do that in changes, do that in moving people on, but this has shocked me today, really shocked me.”
After a dominant opening from the home side, Brown made a double change before the first half was out, bringing on Nile Ranger and Stephen McLaughlin.
Brown saw the two of them getting an hour of football each under their belts after spells out through injury as one of few positives he could take from the game.
And the Blues boss was quick to dismiss Southend’s chances of reaching the play-off places if performances like he saw at the Memorial Stadium continued.
“I don’t think we’ve got a chance [of promotion] with that kind of performance. It’s not been just today, it’s been three of four games that in the first half it’s just unacceptable. Unacceptable behaviour, let alone performance.
“Congratulations to Darrell Clarke for great first half performance. Did we allow them to play? Yes, we did. Did we get in their faces? Did their two strikers work hard than our two strikers? Yes. Was that the cause of the problem in the first half? Probably.
“We didn’t put our bodies on the line, we didn’t put our heads in, we didn’t the graft, the hard work that’s going to get any team a win and that’s all we’re looking for.
“Just one win gets us to the next one, and that’s all I’m bothered about. Tuesday night [against Coventry] is about winning, I’m not bothered about the rest of the season.”

What's odd is that in the first 30 mins Fortune was the only Southend player doing that and he was then subbed off.

So it's all his side's fault rather than us playing well?

So it's all his side's fault rather than us playing well? Yet again! Same old thing from pretty much every manager of a team that we beat, that it's always because they didn't perform, maybe that's because we didn't let them and we're just the better team?

I was watching this the other day, and crikey, no wonder we were so sh** under JW. JW: *can't quite understand*... "We've got no chance now have we?" (1-0 down at HT) AF: "Just believe" (Or something similar) video should go to relevant time.

Whatever exactly was said there is NO WAY any team should be coming out of any dressing room in any situation looking like that!!

Phil Brown needs to stop using Football Manager 2008 to do his scouting. Simon Cox wasn't the only one time "one for the future" to look out of shape and unfit. As for Nile Ranger - any club could have signed him if they were prepared to forgo all ethics and any hope of being engaged with the fans. Next stop Forest Green for him methinks.
