It's kinda obscene that Man U buy a player for 60 million pay wages of @ 250k a week for their top players, likewise Chelsea Liverpool Arsenal .... When a long established club like BRISTOL ROVERS could potentially go out of business requiring just 30 million half the cost of one player. Its well overdue that the Premier league fraternity proves that it cares. With their help this relatively small sum required would not only guarantee our existence but will give us as a club a chance to show what were about and prove everything is possible.
What we need is the Supporters Club to grab the initiative, Brian SS or another to get the bank account organised, mobilise the 'troups' and get some massive publicity going. We should start with ex Gas players and managers ie Lambo/Ollie to highlight our cause appealing to them to talk to fellow 'pros' with a view to some serious donations. Iam sure that some of the really rich football men (one or two Chairman come to mind) who might provided we put our case across properly be inclined to make a difference. That also applies to a lot of of players who are millionaires as a result of football who might just want to give a little back......
This coupled with 40000 gasheads putting in what they afford and any assistance Charlotte can make in the political arena will finally help us live the dream!
Lets just get on with it , if a miracle happens and Sainsbury's honour the deal then any outside donations to the fund ( ie not Perceived as from gas supporters ) been shared out equally between the rest of the clubs 'cut off' in the fifth division.
That's it!

Why should the Premiership clubs feel sorry for us more than Pompey, Hereford, Salisbury Southend etc, etc? Thanks to NH & co we've overspent for years and allowed a get out card clause to be included in the Sainsbury's contract, why should we expect other clubs to bail us out now when it's all our own doing?

erm....
the top sides wanted to use league's 1 and 2 for development / youth / reserve squads, which only highlights the regard they have for the traditions of the English football league pyramid system....
but in fairness, football is as competitive off the field as it is on it....
don't expect any financial help from anyone in the same line of business as yourself....

Neither the PL nor the FA give a monkey's wotsit about lower league football. Indeed the PL have fairly recently reduced the amount of money available to lower league football. The only contribution the FA have made in recent years has been to pay Brooking close on £200,000 a year to wander around Britain, smiling nicely for the cameras and telling everyone how important grass roots football is. Decent footballer but a total patsy for the FA.
The most recent agreement between the PL and the FA has been to greatly increase the parachute payments and spread them over four years while failing to address - or show the slightest sign of interest - about the financial effect clubs like Bristol Rovers (or Lincoln and everyone else) experience when they fall out of the Football League. Which is not to mention the axeing of financial help to youth sections of said clubs which, of course, is not at all important to Mr Brooking's "grass roots football."
When the mighty Wolves dropped into League One they fortunately had a £9m parachute payment to help them try to clamber out - sadly this sort of subsidised help is not available to other clubs in League One or lower.

Perhaps its the reason why so many Ex league clubs who have attained higher position than Rovers are now in the conference.Would love Sky but principles dictate i wouldn't give it house rooms. Rich get richer etc
