They won't listen to the fans. It's only money that talks. Our best hope is that Checkatrade have experienced enough adverse publicity to not want to sponsor it again next year and that it puts others off from doing so. No sponsor, no competition. However they say there's no such thing as bad publicity, as demonstrated by this post, as I just searched for their website to check that there aren't any hyphens in Checkatrade (as I know what the grammar police are like on here) so they got one more hit that they wouldn't have got otherwise. Doh! Doh! should be D'oh!

What it needs is our Chairman to state that whether or not we make a profit on staging these games.
If there is a loss from fans not attending then that should be enough to not enter.
If the losses are covered by the sponsors/ prize money and we have to play then it shows the contempt that football has for the fans!

On the contrary, I think Checkatrade got more publicity than they would ever have imagined. They didn't make the rules so would be exempt of any negative publicity, but a lot more people will know their name now because of it and that's what advertising is all about.
I saw Checkatrade trending on Twitter quite a lot during the games, I think they will have plenty of people willing to sponsor a controversially run competition.

In a way I almost admire him; to stick by your guns in the face of such catastrophic failure is bordering on impressive. His self-belief must be boundless. More like f**king delusional! Maybe he is a diehard Reading B fan?
