www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39571742Thoughts? I personally am in two minds over whether I'd choose to revert to the previous format, or scrap the competition altogether. Aside from a potential money-spinning Wembley trip (which granted is fantastic for lower league teams), the competition has usually been met with a distinct feeling of "meh" by most supporters. Most certainly I will never attend a match again if the clubs vote to keep the academies in the competition.

I'd like it to revert to how it was before, though I wouldn't give a sh!t if it got completely scrapped.

Well done to all of the fans that boycotted. Clearly made ourselves heard.

Straight knock out competition from the start. No groups. They don't make any money anyway. No extra time ,in the case of draws ,straight to penalties.

I'd have no problem with it if it followed this format and there was no stupid rule about what players you can pick. How can you be detrimental to the integrity of a competition that has no integrity? It would give teams the chance to play younger players and squad players.

Division one and two sides only knock out format until the area final which should be a two legged affair isn't this how it used to be??

I don't give a sh** about this crap so called competition and I don't know why people are bothered, as we will have nothing to do with this next year when we are in the championship.

I would add this competition should be for the lower league teams not the academies.
As a twist it could be that not all teams are eligible. League one - Only the top ten finishing clubs from the previous season [minus the 3 promoted teams] League two - All the top 7 clubs including those promoted The two promoted clubs from the conference,
16 teams straight to knockout.

How about an off-season tournament where the two highest scorers in each division play an eight team knock-out?

JUst checked and to my utter amazement the Coventry v Oxford final was watched by it's biggest ever attendance of 73K, on that basis you can't imagine EFL chairman will now vote to scrap such an apparent money spinner. So I guess it all now comes down to how much extra money the EFL are prepared to cough up if the Academy's still take part, as for some reason they still some keen on them taking part.
Personally, if we keep the tournament then I'd go for a straight knock out as other's have suggested as messing about with group stages is pointless.

It's reassuring that SH voted against the B-teams last season and is likely to do it again this season.
Hopefully the boycot this season has done enough to persuade club chairpeople to vote against them this time.

I wonder if we can campaign to add another option to the vote:
Vote for Shaun Harvey to be sacked for being an incompetent insensitive slimey clown? Surely all clubs would vote unanimously in favour?

It's actually an imbalanced vote as those opposed to the new format are likely to have their votes split between revert to previous and scrap altogether. The majority could be against the current new format yet we end up stuck with it

The only good thing this new format has is the higher sponsorship/prize money teams got because of the extra money coming from the top teams.
They claim they will listen to the protests by removing the fines for not playing full strength teams. Unfortunately, two well supported team made it to the final so the deluded Shaun Harvey will no doubt keeping banging on about that. They have not however, told us how they plan to improve the ridiculous poor attendances in the group games.
I've not doubt that if two academy teams got to the final in front of only a few thousand that would have been the final nail in the coffin.

Back to the way it was - the only competition the Gas have a realistic chance of winning - and a trip to Wembley to boot
