Maybe to say thanks for not subbing him after playing absolutely dog Rubbish for 75mins. Luke James would kill for being sh** for 75 minutes and scoring a goal. Err correction......would kill for being sh** for a season and scoring a goal.

Maybe SY had spotted some technical flaw with the Oldham backline which Ellis exploited... Or maybe he was taking the mickey out of him sbout not scoring for a while perhaps Yatesy was saying that he was more prolific lol Who knows it doesn't really matter, as fans we can't expect to know the ins and outs of everything that's going on. One things for sure we've got a great team spirit and most of our players give everything most of the time. That's the main thing. The real reason is that if you jumble up their initials you can make the word HYES, which is what everyone shouted when Ellis scored.......those guys are so, so clever.

I just looked and wiki says that Yates got 7 in a season once at Tranmere and Ellis was on 7 for the season before his goal so maybe he did challenge Ellis to beat his best tally for a season. All good banter. UTG

What a pointless non thread this is zzzzzzzzzzzz Well, I think it`s very pointful. I paid a lot of money for my season ticket, and I want to know what`s going on.

All I would say is look at Ollie Clarke. He turns 25 in the summer, yet only now are people saying he has added consistency and would be in many peoples team ever week. Who would have said that about Ollie 6 months ago?
Let's give Ellis a break. The lad couldn't take a p*ss without someone criticising him for doing it wrong

I can't recall many of us ever being critical of OC for apparent lack of effort in the past? Regardless it doesn't really matter what we think as it's now down to DC to offer him a new contract and EH to then sign it.
Although who's actually criticising him for running to SY? It was a fairly unusual reaction from EH, so what's the harm in wanting to know why he did it?

I am not saying people criticised Ollie for a lack of effort, only that he was inconsistent and 6 months ago many wouldn't have said he would be an important part of, and some would have released him.
As for it being an unusual reaction. yes it was different, but I don't see why celebrating with the management has to be queried. Maybe it was personal, maybe he just wanted to thank someone who stood by him. I mean why would he want to celebrate with a load of fans that were probably slagging him off for being 'lazy' for 70 mins

Ellis his Ellis and you love him or you don't I personally think he's a good squad member and can't thank him enough for his important goals 👍

People are just simply asking the question. If its personal or confidential or whatever then it should remain that why but there's nothing wrong with being a little curious. Like I say the celebration with DC at Chesterfield was very similar and everyone said how great it was that the team ran to DC on what must've been a tough day for him because it showed how close the group are. I think people probably just assumed this would be a similar thing and put it up for a discussion. If not, then its not a problem but there's no harm in asking is there?

I don't think anyone is having a go at Ellis for his celebration, just asking if there was a reason behind it. All the players ran to SY so it would appear that there was a reason. A bit like how all the players ran to DC when Hartley scored at Chesterfield and nobody really knew why at the time. As it turned out, there was a very good reason for it. UTG! Why then was the thread titled 'Ellis Harrison'? why not 'Saturday goal celebration' ? My guess is that if Ellis had not been involved nobody would have given it second though. Perhaps you're right and the thread title should've been different so it seemed more about the celebration than EH. But I don't think anyone was using it to have a dig at Ellis. UTG!

The problem with Ellis, is you know he can do it, but you know at the moment he has not got the ability to perform consistently well; however, with time, he will probably become the number one striker. With regards to Gaffney and particularly James, they both need to new clubs and WAQ needs to get the Jordanian Banks cheque book out and buy in some quality, a) to keep DC and b) to be able to finish in top 6 instead of trying to stay out of the bottom 4 next season. A bottom half div 1 budget will simply not sustain success for too long.

Ellis has been the same his whole Rovers career, one good game and then the next 10 looking uninterested.
How long do you give it?

How long does a myth have to be perpetuated to become a ‘fact’?
If Ellis really was as uninterested as some suggest he wouldn’t get picked anywhere near as much as he has for a DC team would he, given that DC has built everything on Effort and desire first and foremost

Byron Moore gets a lot more game time than his performances deserve also. If those 2 show enough effort and desire then maybe ill take my boots to the open training day.

Yes i'll concede Moore has looked ok of late, but where has he been all season when he has had far more chances that Montano? Its pretty hard to make an impression when you aren't given a fair run of games. Monty looks more of a threat more often that Moore does. We missed a trick not signing Jermaine Mcglashan when we had him on trial before he went to ALdershot.

If we're really going to push for it next season, Monty, Moore & Ellis can all go as far as I'm concerned.

I am pretty sure they have bot started roughly the same amount of games and made roughly the same amount of total appearances
