Personally don't think he's a match for Ollie or linesy or sincs and always thought he was shocking when he played us, reading the u's forum they can't believe they got in the 3 figures for him? Hopefully he proves me wrong...still not sure £150,000 plus and £110,000 plus for sercombe and partington is great business myself... If the figures are "undisclosed" where do these figures come from, are the figures exaggerated by the club's when in truth they are nowhere near the figures quoted?

Last season the midfield had Boateng and Colkett added to it plus Mansell was still in with a shout. Sercombe can replace Mansell that still leaves the possibility of another central midfield player coming in. I suspect this could be either a loan player or a youngster This was the first of DC's major signings...suggesting there are several more to come. These may involve fees. Im GUESSING the major signings will be a keeper ,central defender ,left winger , striker. leaving younger players/ loans to fill additional roles as keeper , right back , left winger , central midfielder , 2 striker . left back you mean.

Just watched his goals on YouTube maybe Darrell will play him in another position Apparently he played 11 times as a right midfielder last season.

Having watched Liam play many times at Exeter and at least 6 times at Oxford I would say he is a solid journeyman Central Midfield player. My concern is that he is no better than we currently have, if as good. I certainly don't think he will improve our first eleven although he will strengthen the squad. What astounds me is that we would pay money for him, even £150K is decent money at our level and I honestly can not see how he is worth that! We have some very experienced players now in midfield, I do think we needed to add to it but with some exciting, fearless young (20/21 year old) talent however I know that's not DC's style. On the plus side Stewy worked with him at Exeter and knows him very well. Strange then that the tabloid sport desks have talked highly of him & believe him to be able to possibly provide prem performance. Their words, not mine. Perhaps being in a more attack minded team will bring him on.

Are you suggesting Sinclair who runs around a lot, Ollie Clarke who is a solid midfielder who chips in with the odd goal are better than Sercombe a player who can beat his man, provide assists and get on the end of crosses and score as well as creating goals for himself. If that's the case DC has obviously got this signing totally wrong. I for one am very happy with this signing and suggest he is hardly a journeyman and fully expect him to strengthen our starting eleven and take a lot of the load off Bodin. I would expect a midfield of Lines, Sercombe, Bodin and either Sinclair or Ollie Clarke to be far better than our midfield from last season. UTG! Well said @bideford. I bet you never thought you'd see me here again. Great to see your posts again

Not sure paying a transfer fee for a player to replace Lines would be DC's priority this summer, goalie, CH & Strikers are the priorities. Sercombe, Lines and O,Clarke playing in the same midfield would roast most other midfields in L1. Also Linesy needs competition in a 2. Dc usually plays with 2 defensive midfield players if he plays 3 central midfield players though almost always played ollie clarke and sinclair with lines and was reluctant to play boateng or colkett with lines. Im not saying he cant play your suggested midfield but totally get why he might not want to.

He played right midfield against us in our win at oxford. Quite narrow though, not really as a winger. We dominated that game and he got deeper and deeper as the game went on,but i must say that he looked a good footballer.

You've signed a very decent player here, signed for us two summers ago and was a revaluation in league 2, I think he played the holding midfield role at Exeter but Appleton played him forward of Jonny Lundstram in our midfield, and in my opinion they were the best centre mid pairing in the league by some way. He started in same role in league 1 but after 6 straight away defeats he was dropped for Ledson who to be fair is a better footballer. Don't know what system you play but he will do well for you as the attacking centre midfield, I imagine he's had assurances he won't be played out wide which is a waste of his talent, he is a decent right back so could be used there. To oxford fans he will alwYs be remembered for his goals in league 2 and abilty to get important goals......good luck Sercs, you played your part in a great time for OUFC

That oxford away match last season was my favourite. It was a good atmosphere and a good win, however I do think united had a real off day.

Yes that's a good point, DC's 1st ever league 1 season I'm sure he will be a lot wiser next season. Although the last couple of away games it was out of necessity, especially at at Gillingham.

Good to hear an opinion from where LS has been for two years. I wasn't at the away match so can't comment and let's be fair all teams have a few nightmare matches in a season, perhaps that was one of yours. I bet most Charlton fans will have us down for relegation after two awful matches against them. I guess the question would be if LS hadn't had the fall-out with MApp would he still have been there, in other words not let go? I know we all need more than two central midfielders over a season so even if for a time you think you've got better pair in CM we are very happy with this signing esp DCs ability to get the best out of most players. I reckon after two years Rovers and Oxford are fairly close and shouldn't be seperated by many places in coming season. UTG!

At least this is the sort of player we should be going for and it is good to see that we are paying money for players. In truth it doesn't matter how he played for Oxford other than he was a regular player until the fall out. I can see him playing with Lines in centre midfield with competition for the pair in the form of Sinclair and Ollie Clarke although how Clarke was playing before his injury he will push them and this is an important season for him to see if he can continue his great improvement and push on. DC has already said that he was after two central midfielders and a left sided one. I feel this is the attacking midfielder and a more defensive midfielder will follow giving us five players going for either 2 places or three places depending on circumstances. I would call this a pretty good first signing.

Every team finishes where they deserve to at the end of the season. Oxford finished above us this season and well done to them.
