Need to learn to go away from home with a point and hold onto that point and maybe snatch lucky wins here and there. Good season though. I see city have done much the same as last year have an awful season but the last few games leaving them in a position that flatters them.

Taylor would have scored the goals to get us in the play offs. You know it's true. I'm not so sure...

The happiest man related to the Gas tonight will be one Rory Gaffney, undecided on him, but guessing he will be offered another contract. 4 goals in 6 games though.

I think the failure to get a replacement for Taylor cost us a championship play off spot. I believe a 'target man' would have got us the extra points for 6th place. It raises the question why the board or D.C decided against it ??. However: a top 10 finish without our top scorer and less than £100 : 000 spent on the entire squad is remarkable.
The summer on and off the pitch is now the critical decision. Will it be the MEM and a small budget for the next 5 years. Or UWE start and a top 6 budget ??

Always thought today would be crazy ... Peterborough seem to be a real hoodo team for us ... Great season but what could have been .
Massive summer ahead where we will see the true colours of the owner. If he genuinely wants to take us forward he knows what's needed. Please don't let the buffoon Chairman try and fob us off again.
No room either for DCs old pals act ... Thanks for the memories but better players desperately needed now.

Taylor would have scored the goals to get us in the play offs. You know it's true. I'm not so sure... Come on, losing a 20 goal a season striker, in form, at christmas, folllowed by a load of drawn games in which we dominated possession.... Taylor has been an abject failure for them thusfar so the only thing the move accomplished on a footballing basis is to hinder us, rather than enhancing their team. He is a jammy sod as he was supposed to be the saviour to score goals for them.....but he's done almost nothing and still gets championship football next year, off of the back of tammy Abraham. He'll be given time, forever, by them to get himself up to this level. That signing must be seen to work, so eventually he'll probably do well for them. They want to make him their hero who shat on us to score for them, and they will make that happen.... All I can say is, that this episode has rekindled my outright conviction that there is something which runs through that club eternally that screams "bunch of wankers". Stadium burning, defacing war memorials, chasing players...and now, even when they are trying pull off this "we're a respectably club" bullshit, they are allegedly working underhand with agents to screw us and take our talent - it's not a stadium burning, but it comes from the same place. Even with money, it just shows class or character cannot be bought. it's just a more sophisticated version of the watered up trash that stands on their terrace chucking coins.

No offence but I hate this way of phrasing things. As if nothing's been done already and everything has to change. I'm happy for DC to continue to invest around the core of this squad, with steady improvements, in the way he knows best. And for the owner to continue to develop the club (through investment) in all the right ways off the pitch.

One man doesn't make a team, your post backs up my point. How does that back up your point? You can't compare to having Sweeney, Lumley AND Taylor. In that scenario, I think it's very reasonable to suggest that we would have won some of those draws. We may have scored more and got better points since he left, but that actually proves nothing whatsoever I am afraid, as the correct comparison is that new team (with loanees) AND Taylor. So you can't make comparisons based on goals or points since leaving. The best comparison is to judge the goal record of whoever took his place in the team. It doesn't seensible to think that losing a recognised goalscorer has no impact on a team.

But if Taylor knew he was going ( which seems highly likely) and we acted on a replacement . Then you could argue he (new striker) would of got a few goals for a top 6 finish. How many goals have Easter : Gaff : Harrison : James got since January ??

How does that work? AGAIN!! Just saying, "since he's left us we have averaged more points, and more goals." One man does not make a team. Just saying...........

How does that work? AGAIN!! Just saying, "since he's left us we have averaged more points, and more goals." One man does not make a team. Just saying........... Honestly, this is being trivial but my logic is impeccable sir! If you say that "Taylor's goals would have got us to playoffs" as I agree with: This is saying that had we had Taylor for the remainder, we would have scored more goals. This scenario invovles everything being the same as per things panned out with the loans, but with the bonus of having Taylor. The point addressed is nothing to do with Sweeney or Lumley - you made it about Sweeney and Lumley because you compared points and goals pre and post Taylor leaving. Hence Sweeney and Lumley's involvement in this discussion have been to counter argue the point that Taylor leaving resulted in better performances. So yes, if we had our loans AND Taylor I have no doubt we would have got a few extra points for the playoffs. On the wider point I agree that one man is not the be all and end all etc, I am just saying that points and goals pre and post Taylor is an invalid methodology for demonstrating that his leaving had positive impact as there are other variables. The points and goals would have been even higher with him, in my view. This really is not important but sadly I am a petty, petty man.
