Its not about whether our fringe players are good enough for a top 6 team, but a top 6 squad.
You're never going to have 2 or 3 strikers from August-May for 46 games, without using back-up. It's whether people think you can get 4 or 5 strikers better than Gaffney and Harrison in a single transfer window.

Who would you keep? Personally, off the top of my head (may have missed some obvious ones): Brown Lockyer Leadbitter J.Clarke Burn Partington O.Clarke Sinclair Lines Bodin Montano? Gaffney Need to get Lumley and Sweeney back next year as well as another keeper. Competition for Lines, two wingers and 2, 3 or even 4 strikers please. So how do we afford the extra 8 players under FPP rules, when we barely managed this year? I assume you also want better, and as a result better paid ones too?

I just hope we don't keep both Gaffney and Harrison, I don't even care which one we keep as long as it's not both.. 3 new strikers and one of those 2 to stay sounds good to me

According to the league table, Rochdale have better players and I'd guess they are on nowhere near as much as our players.
With regards to FFP, the lowest L1 ave attendance this season are Rochdale and Fleetwood, Scunthorpe aren't much further ahead either!

Get rid of players ? Think as a 10th place club its about keeping the squad as intact as possible then deciding what players rovers want. With FFP it may be a case of letting go of the higher earners of the fringe players.

The scunts are being bankrolled by their owner and Fleetwood use the loophole of running their owners business from the stadium and using it to bloat the turnover numbers. No idea how Rochdale are do so well in relation to their attendance figures.

Yes that rings a bell about Fleetwood using a loophole, not sure why the rules have not changed to stop this.
Scunthorpe still don't seem to have spent much on players www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/team/transfers-signings/ - lots of loans and free transfers though

They've all got where they are without spending any money on transfers, except Scunthorpe who spent £255k on Kevin Van Veen 2 seasona ago. He's scored 13 goals in 71 appearances, so I wouldn't say that's great value for money. Taylor scored 61 goals in 118 appearances for us and he was free.

If DC plays his cards right he could possibly get two quality players in on the same wage, and then with a couple out and a couple more in, bolstered by a loan or two, that might be all the business we need to do. Quality over quantity this summer, in my view.

As a bare minimum we need a "quality" goalie, CF and two strikers, that's going to take more than MT's wages! Although looking at Div 1 clubs finances it seems whilst Scunthorpe's club wage bill was £2.5m for last season, so I'm not sure if DC's wage budget is as bad as he tries to make out.

Fleetwood also get approx £250,000 profit from their training ground buy letting the local community use the facilities

Needs to improve if Rovers are going to keep him.
