I'd say his Mrs is homesick ,all the very best Steve. I wonder why he came back to Bristol just to be our kit man, as you can't imagine that was a particularly well paid job in the NH era or even that attractive a job under JW.

Maybe because Greece was going through the peak of the bailouts and unemployment crisis at the time? Although I don't think things have improved there much since then.

Real shame as he's a great unassuming guy whose done a good job and will be missed. I guess with Brexit if he does not go back now then it might not be possible in a couple of years. Thanks Steve for all you've done and good wishes for the future. If he thinks that then he's forgotten the bit where people retired in their droves in the med prior to the free movement of people. Wealthy western europeans people always have, and always will have, the ability to retire in Greece, Span and so on. The difference now, is that there might be a few forms on the Greek side so they can check he isn't a bank robber or terrorist, which, to be fair to the Greeks, they kind of have the right to. A blanket ban of migration was never, ever on the cards.

Yes, but so much easier when part of the EU due to right to buy property, health-care and no asset requirements to settle etc...still should not stray into politics...
