It's all over, we didn't make automatic promotion, we didn't hit the playoffs.
So, following on from my 'anybody still happy' thread, I thought I'd conclude the season by asking if we're all ok?
10th in Lg 1? Ta muchly. DC still with us? Reckon so. Training ground starting which means great youth development. UWE? Do we believe in that? I certainly do. Will Wael give a good budget for next season? Again, reckon so. Were we good enough to go up? Not really.
Anybody so upset with this season that they're not renewing their season tickets?
Interesting few months coming.
Enjoy the break everyone, we'll be back.
Up the Gas!

I'm with you Bags. Good season. DC said he wanted to get us into top 10 of league one and he's done that. I think we'll get the UWE and the training ground looks positive. Disappointing last few games of the season but don't think we would have faired too well if we had managed to get promoted - probably a season too early for that. So, all in all, a pleasing season. Season tickets renewed a couple of weeks ago for me, Daphne and Scrappydoo.

Yes very happy another very good 12 months. Just that nagging doubt about the UWE, we need to know if this is actually going to happen, and sooner rather than later? And of course the massive issue about bing bong man, this needs sorting ASAP or it could drag on and on and could even bring the club down to its knees? I'm convinced we will be stronger next year and the playoffs will be well within our reach.

He's gone, had a word with Kristen Scott-Thomas, she's game on.

Yup. I'm fine with that. Anything less and I'd be disappointed but satisfied as it is.

Great season, good football played by a team who wear the shirt with a bit of pride. It's boring I know, but I always think back to 2014 and think I'd have bitten my arm off to have been able to say then that in 3 years time we'd be in top 10 of League 1. I would have also thought it was impossible and that the men in white coats were going to carry me away! Lots of people are talking about promotion next season but my ambitions are a lot less. I would love us to improve and if we can be a competitive team who are seriously in the race for a play off place all season, even if we don't achieve promotion, will be progress enough for me. And any small improvement, gradual though it may be will be sufficient for me, although whether it will be for DC is another matter! At my age, after 51 years of support, this is where we should be, challenging at the right end of this division. So to answer your question baggins, yes, very happy! UTG!

Of course we have to be happy and satisfied - no two ways about it.
As for ambitions there are still some of us around who remember when Division 2 (called the Championship now) was a regular spot for us and when we almost got into Div 1 (now called the Premiership) so No this division is not good enough so the next level has to be achieved soon and in DC we appear to have the man to take us there.

Happy, proud, grateful. Not satisfied in the sense that it's a bit of a shock to the system that things have sort of fizzled out. Would love to have made the play offs because I think we're capable of slightly more than we showed this season. That's not to say that DC and the boys haven't done fantastically well though!

we can t just expect us to get promoted every season now we have new owners and very good manager. Last 3 years have been probably the best time I've had being a gashead, even if we were in the conference for one of those year. We have bounced back stronger, the solidarity is their in the team and fans and think it feels good supporting the gas win or lose.
Hoping Wael backs DC, he would be silly not too. It would not be easy to replace him with another good manager - especially not until the stadium is built. Must keep hold of DC, id improve his contract for what I would consider another succesful season and give him the funds. If DC wants 10/11 players then he going to need some.

Yes very happy to be fair ... thought the boys did very well this season and no way were we ready for play offs or another promotion.
Thinking very positive for the summer , hoping Wael backs DC financially and if he does I genuinely think we will be top six next season .. season ticket for myself and Specter junior renewed and he has given up playing Saturday Junior football where he was a very decent keeper to watch The Blues next season ... what more could a Dad ask for?? We will be West Stand with our West Huntspill Gas flag in full evidence.
Everything crossed for some quality signings in the summer ...

I am happy enough.
We have probably finished about where I expected us to this season.
I must confess I didn't think Taylor would leave after the summer window closed. What mugs would pay a fee for a player that they could have had on a free a few months earlier.

IMO DC has over achieved again with the resources available at his disposal; now its over to WAQ to give DC the budget which will allow him to bring in 10/11 top quality players, so that BRFC have a chance of at least making the play-offs next season. I have a feeling if the budget is not competitive DC may well rethink his position, and who would blame him ? Also, we need WAQ to come out of the long grass and have grown up chat with the supporters about where he actually is with his protracted discussion with the UWE. I am sure we will all get behind the board, and if we have to move on to plan B, C then so be it.

Yep I'm happy, my first season ticket bought, and looking forward to what next season brings, although I will be checking the "Big UWE news" thread about 20 times a day.

I have to say I like the club we're becoming again. We don't have the bottomless pit of money some have to swill around in, however we do seem to earn the respect of other clubs now. That bit of class some near neighbours wouldn't even recognise.
This was illustrated by the fact that large numbers of fans show respect to the opposition by applauding them off when they've done well. Particularly yesterday and after the Sheffield Utd game. I always remember Liverpool fans doing that many years ago and they weren't a bad club in those days.

In the end I am glad we missed out by 7 points it is easier to take rather than missing out on goal difference or loosing to Millwall on the last game of the season if we needed to win that one to get into the play offs.
Yes I think we were all expecting to go up at the start of the season but as the games unfolded week after week we could see where we were missing out and where we can improve so for me 10th place is a very well done lads. Use this season as obtaining knowledge and see if we can edge closer next season
have a good break all UTG
