Anybody know the average away crowd at the Mem this season ?
Season ticket sales will determine whether this seasons home average is beat next season...obvious but true.

Worth noting that all the teams with higher attendances have large all seater stadia. It's hard for us to average over 10 000 when that's not far off capacity.

How many might some teams have brought if it was a modern all seated away end holding say 4000. {don't say 4000 ! }

I think for the big games - like the last one - you could look at adding an extra 4 -5000 including extra home and away fans.

What would our average gate be if we were in the bottom half all next season? 7,000?

What would our average gate be if we were in the bottom half all next season? 7,000? Well yeah...and it'd be 11,000 if we were in an automatic place all season? Your point being?

I make it an average of 584 away fans per lge game (13,426 fans overall), but that's just me trying to keep a tally via match reports, then using a pen & calulator. Only Oxford & Millwall sold out their allocation I believe.

My point being have we increased our die hard go whatever support? Or is our improved average gate simply made up of success tourists?

I would go a step further and exclude all of those born outside of Bristol, all of those with no BRFC tattoo, women and children and OAPs. We can then find out our "true" crowd of 164. Sack the board.

Because everyone who couldn't get to chelsea or Spurs this season chose BRFC in a run down ground to watch their football. Success breeds fans. They're still fans. (unless and until we get to be like Barca etc)

Im wondering if we now have say 1,000 more people going as part of their normal routine and will still go when we have a poor season at some time in the future. In other words has our core support crept up?

In other words has our core support crept up? I understand what you're saying. And yes I do think the core support has gone up. I think even if we were in the bottom half next season we would still average over 8000, especially if our season ticket sales reaches 6000. If you look at the stats, our support when we were last a top half team at this level under Trollope was only 7k. www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/brir.htmWhen a team gets relegated their crowds normally drop, but when we went down into the Conference they never did. And since then the success we've had has meant that the crowds have just kept going up so support is as good as its been for 40 years. To answer your original question, I do think 90% of these will continue to support now, rather than just being fair weather glory hunters. UTG!

It will all depend on the performances on the pitch. If we are challenging for top 6 then I think we will see an increase but if we stand still and it's mid-table or below then crowds will fall off. Good news on UWE would also help .

Maybe you missed the fact that we had 2 promotions before this season and had a chance of getting promoted for all but one game of this? If thats not success then god only knows what is.
