mobile.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/new-way-for-overseas-fans-to-follow-the-gas-3704445.aspxSo not sure everyone knows but it's quite easy to change your IP address to confuse the computer to think your abroad, especially on android and apple devices which means you could watch all rovers game at home on your laptop or iPad and even on your tv!!! Can this be a good thing for the club? I'm Sure there will be some people that would save the money and not go to the away games and watch them at home with a beer if they could get away with it!

He's sharpening his tongue as we speak, the sweat is dripping down his forehead, steam is blasting out through his ears. Wait for it...........

More to the point it is bound to end up getting streamed either for free or for a lesser price on some pirate sites.

As long as the feed is out there any gashead who wants to see it will be able to, within or outside the UK

They might block anyone using software that changes your IP... I think it's a good idea myself as long as the money goes to the club.
It's illegal to broadcast footy between 3 and 5.30 in the UK right?

If people are true fans they would not defraud the club of their share of the fee
if you you are just a supporter then anything goes to line your pocket at the cost to the club they "support"in name only

If people are true fans they would not defraud the club of their share of the fee if you you are just a supporter then anything goes to line your pocket at the cost to the club they "support"in name only There will always be true hardcore fans but some of the people will decide sod it pizza and beers in front of the tele than go all the way to fleetwood and be out of pocket a wedge especially if we aren't on a good run. And it's not software that allows you to change IP address on Apple devices all you have to do is set up an American Apple account and that's it! Be interesting to see if it's beneficial which I'm sure it will be... Personally I think too much exposure to football on tv has taken the magic away abit and but anything to bump our revenue up as long as it doesn't back fire on us just to make some broadcasting firm and the efl a sh** load of money

Can see this having some impact on away attendances but not significantly.

Can see this having some impact on away attendances but not significantly. so roughly the same predicted impact that people thought that internet shopping would have on the high street then....

What's your point? Do you disagree? If so what do you predict the impact will be? Is this the end of football as we know it? Should I be more concerned than I am? Do we need to start a petition. Now I'm worried.

This is terrible, fans wanting to see Rovers on the cheap.
Get behind the 20s plenty campaign and moan about £18 for an afternoons entertainment instead....that's somehow....better.

What makes people think access to iFollow will be via your ip address? It won't, it'll be via yours in Australia.

How would you get around having a GB address to pay the £110 per season subs? A few seasons ago I had a Bein Sports MENA online sub. Used a Egyptian VPN to get the cheapest exchange rate and paid with my usual debit card. Worked out about 11 quid a month on direct debit for 15 sports channels and virtually every game imaginable in English. Even had camel racing on!

I've never not been able to access any sites in the UK, US using various VPN's. For sure I will be signing up for it, I just hope that most of the money goes to the club.

I doubt it even matters if the address you use is in a different country to the VPN you use.

Now I'm worried. sorry mate, maybe my response last night was overly alarmist..... I don't think it can possibly have an impact long term because if it has an impact in the short term the surely the efl will have to remove the service.... I actually think it's a great idea, the premier league have been cashing in on the international market for years, and you've only got to come on here to see many overseas gas who could really benefit from the service. but I do feel somewhat edgy about this concept....

No worries fella! Agree completely about the long term impact. Having said that the EFL seem to out do themselves in the incompetency stakes on an almost weekly basis so you can never be 100% certain... It's worth a go at least and my prediction is that it will have a negligible impact on attendances, but I have known to be wrong
